SBLD 225 - Spatial Relationships and Human Response

Located in North Tuscany, Lyraterra offers a seamless immersion into the rich culture of wine tasting. Its design blends natural materials with contemporary elements, achieving a timeless and elegant aesthetic. The pathways gently guide your steps, leading you to breathtaking views of the rolling vineyards and enchanting forests. Here, every element coalesces into a harmonious whole, working in concert with the environment to foster immersive experiences within each space. The architecture creates a fluid connection between the interior and exterior, allowing for a versatile array of activities. Whether you are savoring a quiet moment of reflection or participating in lively wine tastings, the design ensures an unforgettable sensory journey.

The scent of blooming flowers and ripe grapes fills the air, while the soft rustle of leaves and the distant hum of nature provide a soothing soundtrack. As you walk through the spaces, the tactile sensation of natural stone and the warmth of wooden elements under your touch enhance the connection to the surroundings. This meticulous attention to detail ensures that every visit to Lyraterra is a unique and memorable experience, leaving you with a lasting impression of tranquility and beauty.

NOMA Competition | 4 month project | Summer 2023

Indelible is an interconnected neighborhood that flourishes by embracing collective growth and serves as a catalyst for transformation, utilizing diverse mixed-use spaces to cultivate unity in Albina. Families, friends, and businesses support one another, forming a nurturing community here. Our vertical neighborhood concept reinstates a sense of identity, envisioning novel approaches to communal dynamics and social cohesion through innovative design that cultivates a legacy of health, vitality, and prosperity.

Project created by a team of students working in collaboration submitted for the NOMA competition 2023.

“The group intends to develop the site to honor Portland’s Black community, create wealth, and carry on Legacy’s good health mission for the community. The project must be a mixed-income residential development that includes commercial, retail, and community spaces. To address the city’s depleting housing stock, the project must address housing equity by including market rate, affordable rental, and homeownership opportunities. Propose a design solution that navigates the development of the site towards a just and joyful future and restoring a piece of the historic African American Commercial district in Portland.”

Studio I — Human-centered Design

Ocean Veil establishes a seamless connection between individuals and their environment, blending private moments of reflection with communal spaces that encourage interaction and shared experiences. By interweaving natural elements, abundant light, and adaptable layouts, the space nurtures personal growth while fostering a strong sense of belonging. This harmonious fusion of individuality and community mirrors the balance found in nature, where the unique beauty of each tree enhances the resilience and vibrancy of the forest, reminding us that our differences enrich the whole.

Guided by the Oubaitori philosophy, which celebrates harmony with nature, the architecture embraces the fluidity of the beachfront, employing materials and design strategies that tie the space to the sandy shores, ocean breezes, and lush subtropical vegetation. Situated in the vibrant landscape of Hollywood Beach, Florida, the project draws inspiration from the region’s coastal character and its resilience in the face of environmental challenges. It acknowledges the area’s history of adaptation, incorporating sustainable features designed to withstand coastal weather and rising sea levels. The structure’s organic form echoes the natural contours of the coastline, flowing effortlessly with the landscape and evoking the rhythmic movement of ocean waves.

SBLD 224 - Site as a Design Generator

Beyond is an immersive experience, designed as a seamless blend of art, culture, and sanctuary. The journey begins in the vibrant gallery space, where artists gather to exchange ideas, surrounded by inspiration. As day turns to evening, visitors can descend into the subterranean jazz bar, where the rich, soulful rhythms of jazz culture fill the air, or savor a culinary experience on the serene garden-view patio. Transitioning from the communal hub, the second floor unveils a private retreat—a 900 sq. ft. studio featuring dual balconies, a deck for relaxation, and essential amenities like a bedroom and bathroom. This space is a haven for uninterrupted creative exploration, offering an intimate setting where ideas can flourish.

Located in the heart of Trustees Garden in Savannah, Georgia, Beyond is more than just a space—it’s a carefully orchestrated symphony of culture, where every element of the environment is a stimulus for the design. This artist retreat offers the perfect balance of private reflection and public interaction, inviting visitors to embark on a transformative journey from the moment they step inside. Rooted in its historic setting, Beyond serves as a unique destination where creativity and culture converge

SCADPRO Collaboration Project

Our team’s approach to patient-centered design was deeply influenced by the client’s personal story and a shared dedication to creating healing spaces. Together, we explored biophilic and symbiotic design principles, integrating the Fibonacci sequence and neuroscientific research to craft a unique environment. The result was a collaborative vision—a safe haven—where the entry path provides a gradual transition into a sensory-driven space, encouraging a connection between body and mind. The walls offer a sense of safety and intimacy, while the sound of cascading water helps modulate the autonomic nervous system, fostering relaxation and reducing stress.

Through immersive reality projections, the space enhances mindfulness by engaging multiple senses and drawing attention away from stressors. By altering brain activity, these projections promote a sense of presence. Utilizing motion-capture technology, the interactive screens improve body awareness and proprioception, guiding users toward proper alignment and posture during yoga and other activities. This project exemplifies our collaborative commitment to integrating technology and design in ways that promote holistic well-being.

Bartosz Romowicz — Mayor of Ustrzyki Dolne 2 month project | Summer 2020 | part of publication

Reminiscence invites viewers to pause and appreciate the timeless beauty of history. The collection of 26 commissioned sketches was created for the mayor of Ustrzyki Dolne, Bartosz Romowicz, as part of an upcoming publication celebrating the region’s rich heritage. Each sketch is a labor of love, meticulously crafted to capture the essence and authenticity of these historic landmarks.

Before bringing these illustrations to life, I visited every church and tserkov in person, studying their architectural details under the changing light of day. This immersive process allowed me to capture the intricate beauty of each structure, ensuring that the final collection radiates with both reverence and a deep connection to the past. Reminiscence stands as a visual tribute to the heritage and cultural legacy of this remarkable region.
