SNOOKER & BILLIARDS

The Snooker and Billiards Club (AKA the Snooker Club) has been a Sub-Club of Wenty Leagues Clubs for many years and we are fortunate to have members from all walks of life.

The Snooker & Billiards Club holds many competitions throughout the year and participates in various competitions with other clubs.

Umpiring

Blacktown City Netball Association held an 11 week program for beginner umpires. WLNC throughout the program had 7 girls attend. From this program we have had 5 progress into Saturday games. The eagerness of those that attended was great. Each week did consist of learning the game progressively and girls were then able to put this into practise by umpiring our 11 years Development teams.

Elliana Henderson received her Gold badge and Priyanka Murali received her Junior White badge. These accomplishments were done in such little time, well done girls.

Draws and Results can be checked on the PlayHQ website

A social snooker competitions are always held every Tuesday Night with a handicap knockout. Entry is $5.00. We commence the shootout at 7.00pm. We no longer hold our Thursday night shoot out competitions because the A and B Grade teams play in our snooker room on that night.

We had our AGM on Monday 6th February 2023; an election for a new committee was held, some current and some new Committee members are now on the new Committee filling all positions.

The Club had a successful year in 2022 and we are looking forward to any challenge in the coming years.

Monday 12th June 2023, we played in the semi-final of the RSL Competition, winning through to the grand final against Guildford at the Guildford Leagues Club.

Monday 19th June 2023, we played the RSL Snooker Championship; we had a victory by winning 3-2.

Sunday 25th June 2023 we have won the RSL Competition 3-0 against Guildford Club.

Monday 26th June 2023, we held our club Billiards championship. The two finalists were Shawli Masudi and Nick Hanlin, Nick was crowned the 2023 billiards champion.

The “A” Grade team is running 2nd in the Western District Championship

The “B” Grade team has finished 2nd in the Western District Championship

Third Division was equal 1st in the Western District Championship

Second Division was equal 2nd in the Western District Championship

At present we comprise of fifty four (54) financial member, it is low this year probably due to our regular senior members are unable to participate in the same way they once did, we wish them all the best.

We would like to encourage more women to join in and play during our Tuesday nights competition, no experience is required as we have club members who are more than happy to offer their courteous knowledge. Arrangement can be made for mutual time for one on one free training to be able to one day represent Wenty in Snooker or Billiards events.

Social Day 3.0

WLSC held its Social Day 3.0 on Sunday 4th June at Northmead Squash Courts with 32 players registered. All players enjoyed the competition on court and the social aspect off the court. The “special” handicap system used for our Social Days meant everyone was competitive, even when there was a big difference in their player ratings. We were thrilled to announce the top 3 Prize Winners for Social Day 3.0 were all women. Go Girl Power!
