Date: 2021.6 (Y3 Semester 2)

The small town of Valbona in Barcelona is one of the three neighborhoods in the northern part of Nou Barris, the only one located on the other side of the train tracks and the highway. Surrounded by hills, the neighborhood is therefore isolated, which gives it a distinct village dynamism. The project aims to use its internal village dynamics to promote the educational development of the town

Vallbona is located in a plain area, suitable for the development of agriculture and other industrial activities

A bridge used to connect two towns. This is also an important bridge for Vallbona to communicate with the outside world

The highway separates the community from neighbors in the northern region, including Ciutat and Torre Baró

Besos River gave the land of Valbona its unique fertility, and it still provides food for one of the city's last urban gardens and its largest yellow pine.

Less than 500 meters from these crops is the highway network to Barcelona, which sets the stage for Valbona's great environmental contrast.

Academic Supervisor: Zheng Gu brett.gu@fusion-arch.com.cn

Location: Babylon, Iraq

Date: 2021.12 (Y4 Semester 1)

Ancient Babylon has left behind beautiful legends and architectural complexes that seem to exist only in mythology. Through this project, we aim to find the ancient language of architecture, to build a cultural bridge between the ancient Babylonian history and the modern war-torn Babylonians, and to bring back the memories of the people to this land.

Since prehistoric times, human beings have started to use the two river basins: inland navigation, using the silt brought by the river as a fertile land for the development of agriculture.

Population aging has become a global issue, and China has long entered an aging society. Take Suzhou as an example, due to the decrease in the number of young people and the increase in the number of elderly people, Suzhou has entered an aging society, and the old city is the most densely populated area with an aging population. According to the latest census results, Suzhou has a registered population of 6,670,124, of which 16,555,581 are elderly people, accounting for 24.8% of the total registered population .

The old city is the most densely populated, but with less supporting infrastructure and public green space to meet the needs of the people.

As the trend of aging in Suzhou becomes more and more obvious, the number of public green spaces in the old city has failed to meet the demand of the elderly for public activity space.

Suzhou is one such place amid rapid urban development and is also known for its rich garden resources. This project is located in Suzhou's twin pagoda shadow garden, a typical traditional Jiangnan Garden of the Qing Dynasty, the residence of the poet Yuan Xuelan and his mother. After the founding of New China, it was divided into many parts for 63 residents, and in recent years it has been renovated and converted into office space. Because of its private function, its historical connotation is not widely known. Therefore, the design aims to transform the garden into a representative and consistent city element into a no boundary museum of Suzhou culture.

Abstract ripples from the gardens

Once the "center" of the overall space and the center of the local space in the garden are determined, the paths are established. The nodal spaces are arranged linearly along the paths. The curves between the architecture, plants, and the reality are established to guide people along the path. The spaces are combined in a free and orderly way

rebirth of the oCean garden

Team work

This project reconsiders business practices like waste trade from the perspective of environmental justice. Environmental justice has always been highly regional. Such environmental inequality has caused great damage to the ecological environment in some areas. In that case, we hope to use the form and function of architecture to legalize and rationalize the waste trade, so that all regions can have a rational understanding of ecological benefits and protect the precious ecological resources on the planet.

Adaptive Facade

The design of the pedestrian bridge has the strong connection with surroundings. At the beginning of the design process, our group extracted the key word according to he characteristic of the North and South campus - Asymmetry. The asymmetry is reflected in the architectural style of the north and south campus, the form of the façade (color and materials), and it also represents the blending of cultures and the collision of cogitations. Overall planning leads to a difference in the learning atmosphere between the students of the south campus and the students of the north campus.

Although the utopian society has no class exploitation, everyone can live on high-end science and technology, the relationship between people is cold, on the contrary, the relationship between people and machines and some high-tech inventions are closely related. And when the development of science and technology to a certain extent, people found that technology gradually became a dissident force of human progress, people are alienated by technology. Society is filled with all kinds of robots, computers, they serve humans, but also transform the whole society, when people are in a cold machine environment for a long time, even if the material and its abundance, people can enjoy as they wish, over time, the human heart is numb, and then the human themselves do not understand what is human nature, what is the self.
