Know the Truth About Islam, Jihad, and Taqaya prepared by Nolan McFadden Included in this study is a list of passages from the KORAN (Qur’an) which is the sacred book of Islam. They are found in THE KORAN translated into English by N.J. Dawood. In the introduction to THE KORAN it is mentioned that the name “Allah” was changed to “God” for this English translation. I have added the name Allah after each usage of the name God in these passages to indicate which title is used by Muslims. “Sura” is the word used for a main division or chapter of the Koran. The term “Apostle” refers to the prophet Muhammad. Muslims regard those who do not convert to Islam, worship Allah, and practice Islam as unbelievers, infidels or idolaters. The passages cited help us to better understand the religious motive for the belief and practice of Islamic jihad (Muslim holy war against all people regarded as unbelievers or enemies of Islam). An expert on Islam Usama Dakdok observes, “...in the Qur’an there are 31 verses where Allah commands his Muslim believers to perform jihad against the infidels . Notice also that Muslim scholars have one and only one interpretation for the word jihad. That is “a holy war.” (1) Let’s consider some of these teachings: “The only true faith in God’s [Allah’s] sight is Islam (Sura 3:19).” (2) “Believers, take neither the Jews nor the Christians for your friends. They are friends with one another. Whoever of you seeks their friendship shall become one of their number. God [Allah] does not guide the wrongdoers (Sura 5:51-).” (3) “God [Allah] revealed His will to the angels, saying: ‘I shall be with you. Give courage to the believers. I shall cast terror into the hearts of the infidels. Strike off their heads, strike off the very tips of their fingers!’ That was because they defied God [Allah] and His apostle. He that defies God [Allah] and His apostle shall be sternly punished by God [Allah]. We said to them: ‘Taste this. The scourge of the fire awaits the unbelievers.’ Believers, when you encounter the infidels on the march, do not turn your backs to them in flight (Sura 8:12-15).” (4) “Tell the unbelievers that if they mend their ways their past shall be forgiven; but if they persist in sin, let them reflect upon the fate of bygone nations. Make war on them until idolatry shall cease and God’s [Allah] religion [Islam] shall reign supreme (Sura 8:3940).” (5) “When the sacred months are over slay the idolaters wherever you find them. Arrest them, besiege them, and lie in ambush everywhere for them. If they repent and take to prayer and render the alms levy, allow them to go their way. God [Allah] is forgiving and merciful (Sura 9:4-5).” (6) “But if, after coming to terms with you, they break their oaths, and revile your faith, make war on the leaders of unbelief – for no oaths are binding with them – so that they may desist. Will you not fight against those who have broken their oaths and conspired to banish the Apostle? (Sura 9:12-14).” (7) “…God [Allah] has aided you on many a battlefield…He sent to your aid invisible warriors and sternly punished the unbelievers. Thus were the infidels rewarded… Believers, know that the idolaters are unclean…Fight against such of those to whom the

2 Scriptures were given as believe in neither God [Allah] nor the Last Day, who do not forbid what God [Allah] and His apostle have forbidden, and do not embrace the true Faith, until they pay tribute out of hand and are utterly subdued. The Jews say Ezra is the son of God [Allah], while the Christians say the Messiah is the son of God [Allah]. Such are their assertions, by which they imitate the infidels of old. God [Allah] confound them! How perverse they are! (Sura 9:25-30).” (8) “They would extinguish the light of God [Allah] with their mouths: but God [Allah] seeks only to perfect His light, though the infidels abhor it. It is He who has sent forth His apostle with guidance and the True Faith that he may exalt it above all religions, though the idolaters abhor it (Sura 9:32-33).” (9) “Prophet, make war on the unbelievers and the hypocrites and deal rigorously with them. Hell shall be their home: an evil fate. They swear by God [Allah] that they said nothing. Yet they uttered the word of unbelief and renounced Islam after embracing it (Sura 9:7374).” (10) “Believers, make war on the infidels who dwell around you. Deal firmly with them. Know that God [Allah] is with the righteous (Sura 9:123).” (11) “Unbelievers are those that say: ‘God [Allah] is the Messiah, the son of Mary’… Unbelievers are those that say: ‘God [Allah] is one of three.’ There is but one God [Allah]. If they do not desist from so saying, those of them that disbelieve shall be sternly punished (Sura 5:72-73).” (12) As Christians, what should be our response to Islam, Jihad, and the deceptive practice of Taqaya? 1) Don’t be deceived by Muslims (Matthew 24:4). Islam is not a religion of peace. Islam is a religion of perpetual jihad (mass murder) against all who will not convert and/or submit to Islam. Our LORD JESUS warned and commanded His followers, “Take heed that no man deceive you.” (Matthew 24:4) 2) Don’t be overcome by the evil deeds of Muslims (Romans 12:21). Rather, without compromising our own personal safety or the safety of our families, let’s purpose to do good to Muslims. The apostle Paul taught, “As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men,…” (Galatians 6:10) Notice that the word “all” in Galatians 6:10 certainly includes Muslims. Likewise, let’s remember the instructions of the apostle Paul found in Romans 12:21 in the New Testament. Paul said, “Be not overcome of evil (referring to the evil that others have done or are planning to do against you), but overcome evil with good.” Thus, we overcome their evil toward us by doing good back to them. 3) Recognize that Muslims are spiritually deceived by the father of lies – the Devil (John 8:43-44). JESUS declared in John 8:44, “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.” 4) Be aware that Islam is directed by the spirit of antichrist (I John 2:18-29). Islam denies the doctrine of CHRIST and the biblical doctrine of salvation proclaimed by the apostles of JESUS. Islam teaches that Jesus was one of the prophets. But Islam denies that JESUS is the Son of God, the only true Messiah (Christ), Savior, and coming King. Thus, as revealed in I John 2:18-22, Islam carries the spirit of antichrist. Islam denies the

3 death and atonement of Jesus for our sins. Islam rejects what Jesus proclaimed in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Islam disregards what the apostle Peter declared about Jesus Christ in Acts 4:12. Peter proclaimed, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Moreover, the apostle John taught, “I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth. Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ (Messiah)? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father:…Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God (I John 2:21-23; 4:15). 5) Recognize that the angels that have aided Islam, from its beginning, are fallen angels (II Corinthians 11:1-15, Galatians 1:6-12). 6) The living LORD God of Israel loves Muslims and wants them to repent and receive eternal salvation through personal faith in JESUS CHRIST and His atonement for sins. The apostle Paul explained that our SAVIOR desires, “…all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time (I Timothy 2:3-5).” Note that the word “all” in this Bible text includes Muslims. 7) How should Christians treat Muslims? We are to love them; pray for them; do good to them; and proclaim the gospel message to them. Why? This is what JESUS taught his disciples to do. Our LORD exhorted, “Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you (Luke 6:2728). Keep in mind that Muslims are deceived people who need JESUS as SAVIOR and LORD. Our battle is in prayer against the spiritual forces (the fallen angels) that have deceived them. Paul stated, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12).” As authentic Christians, we will not convert to Islam or deny our LORD, SAVIOR and KING JESUS CHRIST (I John 2:22; 4:15). We know that in the future when all are judged in the presence of our LORD, every knee (including those of Muslims) will bow and every tongue will confess that JESUS CHRIST IS LORD to the glory of our Father in Heaven (Philippians 2:9-11). We choose to believe the biblical gospel and bow our knees to KING JESUS in this life, knowing that our reward will be great in Heaven (Romans 8:17-18, Philippians 3:20). The deceived, murderous jihadists would like us to have a spirit of fear by means of their acts of terrorism and jihad. But our LORD JESUS has instructed Christians to not be afraid of them or their evil works (Matthew 10:28, Luke 12:4-9). Rather, let the Muslim jihadists fear what awaits them on Judgment Day when they are “cast into the lake of fire” by our LORD who will judge them if they will not repent and convert to JESUS THE CHRIST (MESSIAH). See Revelation 20:10-15; 21:8; 22:15. JESUS commanded his disciples, “And fear not them which kill the body (i.e. Muslim jihadists), but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him (the LORD JESUS) which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell (Matthew 10:28). In like manner the apostle Paul wrote to comfort persecuted Christians declaring, “Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his

4 power;…” (II Thessalonians 1:6-9) Just as our living, holy, righteous God judged the Roman emperor Nero who hated Christians, so, likewise, the LORD will surely judge the Muslim jihadists who despise Bible-believing Christians and the biblical message of salvation in the twenty-first century (Genesis 19:1-28, Leviticus 18:22-30, Romans 1:18; 2:2, Hebrews 13:4, Jude 7). According to the teachings of JESUS and His apostles, those of us who know JESUS as SAVIOR and LORD are already citizens of Heaven (John 14:1-6, Philippians 3:20-21, I Peter 1:3-5). Therefore, as Christians, we are able to boldly declare as our beloved brother Paul, “For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain (Philippians 1:21).” THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION IS: DO YOU KNOW JESUS CHRIST AS YOUR SAVIOR AND LORD?
