Happy New Year Wendover Christmas Celebrations

Wendover looked wonderful, as always, so thank you, thank you, to everyone who made that possible. Anyone entering the High Street from either direction entered a magical static light show which didn't distract the drivers. Pedestrians had an even better view of all the lovely shop windows, see also page 19, and could enjoy going in to buy something not available online and actually discuss the purchase with a human being! Then we progress to that new phenomenon of having a hot drink under a gazebo in the middle of Winter! Special thanks to the efforts of our younger generation who worked so hard to make beautiful decorations for our Big Manor Waste Tree, sponsored by No2 Pound Street. The competition winners are shown right.

Lionel Abel-Smith Trust

The Trust was established in 1977 when Lionel Abel-Smith, Lord of the Manor of Wendover, gave the village a number of properties in Pound Street. His wish was that the rental income be used to support organisations and individuals in Wendover. Over the years, more than £1.5 million has been awarded in grants and loans. The Trustees will hold their 43rd Annual meeting on Wednesday 28 April 2021 to consider grant applications from individuals and organisations from within the parish of Wendover and the Moor Park Estate. Applications must be received by Friday 28 February with full contact details and, if possible, email address to: clerk@ wendovertrust.org or Clerk to the Trust, 51 Dobbins Lane, Wendover Bucks HP22 6DL. For details go to www.wendovertrust.org. Grants can be made for real need throughout the year.
