Legend has it that the Christmas Pickle has been a tradition in Germany for years. We’re not sure that’s true, but it’s a fun new tradition that families across America can adopt with our newly introduced pewter Pickle. Evidently, on Christmas Eve, parents would hide the pickle deep in the branches of the family tree. On Christmas morning, the first child to find the Pickle would receive an extra gift from Santa. The Christmas narrative really doesn’t end with the baby in the manger but truly points to Good Friday and Easter Sunday as the reason the Christ child was born. With this connection in mind, our artisans in our Old Forge Pewter workshop created the Christ’s Nail ornament, reminding us all at Christmas that the story doesn’t end in the manger…it just begins. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each nail will go to Operation Christmas Child, a program of Samaritan’s Purse.
