Hello Wells!
Thanks
It’s year three of our annual weekend-long comedy blowout, and 2017 looks set to be a big year for the festival. Not only have we added two new venues – Cedars Hall and the White Hart Hotel – but we welcome the good folk at Brothers Cider as our headline sponsor, who will be running a #DeciderlyDifferent bar at the Wells Little Theatre all weekend.
The Wells Comedy Festival in association with Brothers Cider wouldn’t be possible without a huge amount of help and support from so many people. Firstly, thanks to Brothers Cider, our headline sponsor, especially Matthew Showering, Gerry Doyle and Adam Bishop. And to everyone at the Wells Journal, our official media partner, especially Tim Lethaby and Andrew Doyle. Thanks to Lyn Jones, John Williams, Ellie Williams, Vikki Mizon, Clarissa Maycock, Abby We couldn’t be more chuffed with this year’s Mizon, Maddy Lloyd-Jones, Chris Thurlby, Al Horne, programme. It includes returners Stewart Lee and Jen Pearce, Charlie Mizon, Jack De’Ath and the many Sara Pascoe; TV regulars like Milton Jones, Joe Lycett hard-working volunteers for making sure the festival and James Acaster; and not one, not two but three runs smoothly. To Kay Pennycott and Sally Francis at Edinburgh Comedy Award winners – Bridget Christie, Wells Cathedral School; Gerald Eyres, Richard Wright, Adam Riches and John Kearns. Mark Hutchinson, Pauline Perrin, Mark Wall, Ken Edmonds and everyone at the Wells Little Theatre; There’s plenty to choose from, from the hard-hitting Tudor Hopkins and Sophie Sim at the White Hart stand-up of Jamali Maddix and Alfie Brown, to the Hotel; and Chris Stone and everyone at the Globe family-friendly silliness of Sam Fletcher. Inn. More thanks to Jel Holmes at Dusted Design, Tom ‘Kitten’ Havell, Charlie Phillips and all at Storm So have a flick through the line-up, get yourself a Productions Group, Guy Dawson, Faye Blackwell pint of Somerset cider and have a brilliant festival! at Counselling Somerset, Sue Macey at Lodestone Property, Alan Stone at Old Mill, Stephen Leyton and Amy Leyton at Ensemble, Jo Roseff at Wells City Floors and Louise Bale at Mendip Helpers. And finally, thanks to all the incredible comics taking part, and to Ben Williams you lot, the audience, for making sure they don’t play Wells Comedy Festival Founder to empty rooms. ben@wellscomfest.com
