Foreword

The Easter Revision Course at Wellington College has been running for many years, offering students a superb setting in which to prepare for their final GCSE, IGCSE and A Level examinations. With a focus on calm, purposeful learning and with an expert instruction from experienced teaching staff, students can immerse themselves in their learning and revision for a whole week. Students will benefit from guidance that is tailored to their individual needs as they look to take those final steps towards success, as well as enjoying an atmosphere that is inspirational and reassuring in equal measure. I look forward to welcoming you to Wellington College and to the Easter Revision Course. We wish all those taking public examinations the very best as they approach their final assessments.

Programme Overview

Our Course Director selects all instructors, ensuring they are well-qualified to deliver targeted revision. Their primary focus is on practicing for examinations, enhancing technique, and improving exam-related skills, all while providing ongoing feedback throughout the course. On a daily basis, students will receive guidance on essential content and revision techniques. They will review critical skills and exam strategies, with the added opportunity to complete past exam papers to support their progress. To underscore the importance of study skills, students will dedicate several hours each day to focused study. Class sizes are intentionally kept small, with approximately 10 students per class, in order to maximise instruction and personal growth with their teacher. Upon completion of the course, every student will receive a personalised report highlighting their areas of progress, improvements made, and guidance on what to concentrate on next. Residential Students are provided with the choice to reside on campus throughout the course. For those who opt to board, they can arrive the evening prior to the course's start to acquaint themselves with the campus, meet their House Manager, and interact with their fellow students. Accommodation is arranged in single-sex houses, with each student enjoying their private room (shared bathroom facilities). All houses are equipped with comfortable common areas where students can unwind and socialise in the evenings. Dedicated Wellington College House Managers are present in each house to offer support for any personal or medical needs during the students' stay.

Activities (Residential only)

Recognising the correlation between a healthy body and an agile mind, it is crucial that students have time the opportunity to relax and unwind following their lessons. With access to a variety of sports facilities, as well as extensive woodland areas, students can opt to engage in physical activities or simply take a leisurely stroll through the magnificent grounds. In addition to sports, students will have the chance to partake in other leisurely activities, such as movie nights. 11

FAQs

Who is eligible to attend the course? We welcome all students from any UK or international school who are taking the GCSE/IGCSE or A-Level subjects offered.

Do you cover AS exams? Unfortunately we don’t cover AS exams. The A-Level course will cover the 2 year linear A-Level.

(Please note that each course is subject/ exam board specific, so please make sure you have checked these details prior to booking on the course).

Can you attend for single days? To maximise learning for all students and to enable the teachers to offer in depth feedback, we require students to attend the full course.

Are students in their first year of study able to attend? We ask that all students are in their final year of study and will be sitting their exams in 2024. Do you cover foundation level for GCSE/IGCSE? Unfortunately, there are no 'Higher' and 'Foundation' papers at IGCSE, only at GCSE. However, we will be preparing students for the Higher papers. With 1 GCSE subject courses do these take place in the morning or afternoon? This is dependent on the final timetable which is set 2 weeks prior to the exam. As students learn better at different times of day, we try to vary the timetable. This may mean for students only revising 1 GCSE subject, the course may be taught over alternating mornings and afternoons.

13

Will parents receive feedback from the teachers? As well as ongoing feedback between students and teachers throughout the course, each student will receive a detailed report which will be sent out on the completion of the week. Do non-residential part-time students (1 GCSE subject only) have meals included? As 1 subject students are only on site part of the day (ie: morning or afternoon), meals are not included. Do you accept childcare vouchers? No, unfortunately we cannot accept childcare vouchers as payment for this course.
