Scarborough, Britain’s first seaside resort has been selected to host the 2020 National Armed Forces Day on 27 June. We are proud to be hosting this event with the Royal Navy, and is usually attended by a senior Royal and the Prime Minister. Land, sea and air assets will be featured. Highlights include the legendary Red Arrows and the world famous Royal Marines Marching Band.

The National Centre for Birds of Prey is the largest collection of these wonderful birds in the North of England. A vast collection of owls, eagles, vultures, hawks, falcons and more are housed in spacious aviaries set within ancient oak woodland and rolling parkland. Our trained team of flying birds fly free for our visitors 3 times a day. Children and adults alike will enjoy watching the birds do what they do best. Different birds are flown on each demo. Please allow 2-3 hours - we are a big place! Picnickers are welcome - or the Owl House Cafe serves a selection of hot and cold snacks and meals. Access into the surrounding 300 acres of parkland is included and the parking is free. Located just 2 minutes drive (or 12 minutes walk) from the centre of Helmsley.

One of the UK’s top wildlife spectacles – around half a million seabirds on towering cliffs. Puffins visit April to early August and thousands of the UK’s largest seabird, the gannet, make their home here from March to late October. Cliff top viewing platforms (most with wheelchair access) give close-up views of the birds and panoramic views of the dramatic coast.
