Żnin The town’s name underlines its agricultural character as the word “Żnin” presumably originates from an Old Polish word żnieja which used to mean harvest or a reaper.

zaprasza o każdej porze roku – welcomes tourists and investors Although, as already mentioned, this gmina is a typically agricultural area, located in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship, it does have the infrastructure necessary for development of the small and medium-sized enterprises. Moreover, Żnin strives to make the best possible use of its indisputable landscape and natural assets. The town is located on the Piast Trail and is known as the “capital” of the Pałuki region – a picturesque historical and ethnographic area situated in the south-west part of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship and the north-east part of the Wielkopolskie Voivodeship. It is here where the old narrow-gauge train starts its journeys on the route: Żnin – Wenecja – Biskupin – Gąsawa. In Wenecja railway enthusiasts may admire old locomotives, carriages, railway signs and other elements of railway infrastructure in the Narrow-Gauge Railway Museum. Apart from the museum, Wenecja may boast with the ruins of the “Devil Castle” which are also worth seeing. The rest of the railway route is just equally interesting, however, let us return to Żnin. The very town offers many tourist and historical attractions. Żnin, apart from other attractions, is famous for its annual Water Motor Sports Championships, Folk Art Fairs and Agricultural Fairs of the Pałuki region. The town’s most characteristic building is the gothic tower of the City Council from the 15th century, located in the middle of the main square. Commonly known as the bastion, it is one of few buildings in Poland with a quadrilateral basis and an octagon-shaped upper part. Not everyone knows that Żnin is also the place of birth of two great Enlightenment scholars – the brothers Jędrzej and Jan Śniadecki. The historical building of the old town hall, located in the vicinity of the main square, hosts the Museum of Water Motor Sports – the only such museum in Europe. The fascinating architectural monuments of Żnin include churches of Saint Martin and Saint Florian as well as the suffragan diocese – a classical bishop residence from 1795.In Żnin you will surely not be bored. There is a plenty of scenic views as well as hiking, cycling and kayaking routes. During a kayak trip you may visit such lakes as the Gąsawskie, Godawskie, Biskupińskie or Weneckie. The town and its neighbourhood is also not short of farms offering rural tourism services as well as leisure centres, camping sites, hotels and excellent bars and restaurants with affordable prices. One may also not forget about the “Silverado City” – a western theme park surrounded by fields with many attractions for both children and adults. Żnin, with its population of 15 thousand people, located next to route no. 5, approx. 45 km from Bydgoszcz, has a separated zone of investment areas situated in its northern part, with the total area of 64 ha. Excellent location, proximity of large selling markets and developed technical infrastructure have already been appreciated by such investors as: Pepsi-Cola, Kohler + Bovenkamp, or Frigo Logistics. New investors may receive here professional help and legal assistance related to starting business activity. Local self-government authorities are very open to cooperation with those who would like to start their investments in the town or the gmina. Recently, the town has changed and become even more beautiful, following new investments as well as owing to its hard-working and frugal inhabitants. You have to see it on your own. Come to Żnin in every season!
