Entrances and Visitor Centers:
• Ernest Coe Visitor Center is open daily, from approximately 9am-5pm; main entrance to the park is open 24-hours a day. Features educational displays, informational brochures and an adjoining bookstore. Popular walking trails begin a short drive from the center. At 40001 State Rd. 9336, Homestead, 305-242-7700. There is a $10/car ($5/walkers or cyclists) entrance fee, good for seven consecutive days at any Everglades park. • Flamingo Visitor Center is open daily, from approximately 8am-4:30pm. It is the only visitor center not accessible from an outside entrance, and located 38-miles (about one hour’s drive) into the park from the Ernest Coe Visitor Center. Features backcountry permits, campground facilities, a public boat ramp, hiking trails and canoeing. Houseboat, canoe, kayak, bicycle rentals and boat tours available at the marina store. Information at 239-695-2945. • Shark Valley is open daily, 9:15am5:15pm. Features a guided tram tour, paved roads for bicycling, bicycle rentals and two short walking trails (one disabled accessible). Shark Valley is located at 36000 SW 8 St., Miami, 305-221-8776.
