A Tejano Christmas Carol Plays at Pharr Community Theater Special to Welcome Home RGV

The well-known Ebenezer Scrooge I

hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving. We certainly did around the Collier house. We had Thanksgiving dinner this year, as opposed to our usual Thanksgiving lunch. My mother and I both wondered why on earth we hadn’t done dinner before. It made Thanksgiving day so much easier and much more relaxed and probably saved us 3,000 calories since we didn’t eat leftovers for dinner like we usually do! Either way, it was a wonderful holiday shared with those I love. Those who weren’t with us for this holiday will be here soon enough, as Christmas is right around the corner! Between now and Christmas, our office will be bustling as we wrap up 2016, prepare for the Winter Texan Expo, and try to sneak in some shopping time. I look forward to spending much of this month with you, too, celebrating the season and all you do for the less fortunate in our area. It never ceases to amaze me the generosity you have for our needy families and for nonprofit and social service organizations across the Valley. Please let us know about the good work and cheer you are spreading throughout the Valley this holiday season! • We’re just connecting the dots,

Set in the Rio Grande Valley in the city of Pharr, Codos is the most powerful attorney in all the region and a big-time water broker and landowner. In fact, he’s so greedy that he sells large portions of water rights from the Rio Grande, causing a catastrophe in the future when the river goes dry and thousands are left very thirsty. In this hilarious dramatic story, Codos is visited by the ghost of the past, who is La Rielera (a woman soldier) from the Mexican Revolution era, and by the ghost of Christmas present, who is a Zoot Suiter from the 40s. “The play has cool music and sound

Professional actor and Pharr Community Theater co-founder Pedro Garcia plays Codos. “I have lots of fun playing this character and getting into his moods and emotions. I believe that everyone who sees the show, including kids, will have lots of fun, especially with our large cast of 18, including 7 great youngsters. If you are familiar with the original story, then you (more or less) know the turn around and joy of this tale,” said Garcia, who
