As the shoemaker entered Reb Shayele Kerestirer's abode, he was carrying the winter boots that Reb Shayele had ordered for the winter. However, upon his arrival, there was a destitute man standing in the room, donning torn boots and shivering from the frigid temperature.

Moved by the man's plight, Reb Shayele instructed the shoemaker to have the destitute man try on the newly crafted boots. After the man had done so, Reb Shayele exclaimed that the boots fit him very well and directed the shoemaker to give the boots to the needy man.
