Rupanyup church centenary Members of Rupanyup Uniting Church congregation will celebrate the 100th anniversary of their church this weekend. Congregation members laid a foundation stone at the Cromie Street building, originally the Methodist Church in April, 1913 and the first worship services were on September 7, later that year. Tradesmen constructed the church from Rupanyup district bricks and it stands today without a crack in the building. Celebrations will start on Saturday at 3pm

with a welcome at the church before tour of Woods Museum. At 5pm, officials will retrieve and open a time capsule from under the foundation stone before about 75 guests will attend an anniversary dinner. Sunday worship will be at the church at 10.30am. The Rev Ian Johnston, the last Rupanyup minister appointed under the Methodist system will be guest preacher. In 1913, the church replaced a timber building after trustees went ahead with construction after receiving 400 pounds in donations.
