Hip-hop veteran Jay-Z proves he still has the musical goods on this week’s new release ‘4:44’. The album features guest appearances by Frank Ocean and Damian Marley, along with contributions by family members including his mother Gloria Carter and superstar wife Beyonce. ‘4:44’ references lyrics from Beyonce’s acclaimed album ‘Lemonade’ and so far the personal material is clearly paying off with the album receiving positive reviews across the board, including four out of five stars from Rolling Stone. Get ready for the ride of your life with ‘Baby Driver’ hitting the big screen this week. Baby (Ansel Elgort) is a young partially hearing impaired getaway driver with a unique quirk, he relies on music to help his driving. After he meets the girl of his dreams, Debora (Lily James), Baby decides it’s time to give away his criminal life. Unfortunately it’s not that easy and Baby finds himself coerced into working for the crime boss Doc (Kevin Spacey), which will threaten everything he holds dear. The film’s killer cast also includes Jamie Foxx and ‘Mad Men’ star Jon Hamm.
‘Baby Driver’ is the creation of writer/ director Edgar Wright, who is most well known for his work on ‘Shaun of the Dead’, ‘Hot Fuzz’ and ‘Scott Pilgrim vs. the World’. ‘Baby Driver’ is raking in the positive reviews and getting plenty of praise for being able to seamlessly blend action with a smartly written storyline. Its takings at the box office have also been very impressive.
