The village of Maywood is exploring its options when it comes to allowing the sale of recreational and medical cannabis in the village. Limited cannabis use among residents 21 and older will become legal in Illinois starting Jan. 1, 2020. Municipalities can vote to opt-in or opt-out of the statewide wave of legalization. By opting out, they’re essentially banning the sale of marijuana within their borders. During a regular meeting on Nov. 6, village staffers presented to members of the Maywood Board of Trustees three options for allowing the sale of recreational retail cannabis establishments. Five, six, seven, eight, come on Triton negotiate!”) and solicited honks from passing motorists. In October, 80 percent of the 53-member See TRITON STRIKE on page 7
