There are numerous pre wedding rituals which mark the start of wedding. The first pre wedding ceremony begins with Istikhara.

Religious heads ask for Allah’s consent to perform the wedding in this ceremony. Immediately after this boy’s mother visits bride’s house with Imam-Zamin.
