Metastatic Breast Cancer- Introduction. When breast cancer reaches stage four, then it is called metastatic breast cancer. The term "metastatic" refers to when cancer spreads over another part of the body from where it was initially generated. In the case of metastatic breast cancer, the cancer cells start spreading mainly to bones, liver, brain or lungs. The process through which cancer spreads further is termed Metastasis. The doctors generally refer to metastatic breast cancer as, ‘Metastasized’ cancer. This type usually develops when the treatment is delayed or the cancer is yet to be diagnosed. However, in the present era, with the availability of advanced medical treatment, Metastatic cancer is generally treatable. The only thing that lacks is self-awareness.
