CHRISTMAS Will Come

KNOCKING Halloween is past and, ready or not, the candy has made way for the red and green packaging that is the season’s first indication that Christmas is just around the corner. Just last week as I rushed through the center isle of the discount store with my arms overloaded, I took a a glance at the Christmas items that were being stocked and made a silent commitment to myself that I wouldn’t wait until the last minute to prepare this year. With that in mind, I think it is time for a shot of inspiration for all of us. And, a great place to start is the front door. It is the first impression your home makes on guests and passers-by. This year, let that impression be one of an inviting, festive home of a holiday guru. Only you and I will know that the idea came from an inspirational photo you found that led to such an amazing front door display. As you begin to form the perfect look in your mind here are a few bits to keep in mind.

Wreaths: Of course they will always hold a place of honor in any entryway, but there are so many interpretations out there today. From the fabric Santa Clause to the creatively decorated ice skates, the ideas are endless. Archways: Taking the decor around the door can add both depth and detail to your entryway. Evergreen makes a great base and can be decorated with anything from traditional pinecones to enticing candy canes. Accent Pieces: Go a step further by adding some seasonal plants, decorating existing bushes or maybe even standing a couple colorful sentries to show guests to the door. No matter what look you choose, now is the time to get started preparing. Don’t wait to decide your direction, do it now. A little planning today will make you the envy of the neighborhood in ... oh... a little over six weeks I would say.
