Office of Student Financial Services August 2010 Newsletter Welcome Back!

Student Employment

The Office of Student Financial Services (OSFS) is looking forward to seeing you on campus this fall. Below please find some information that you may find helpful to ensure a smooth transition to campus this fall.

The Office of Student Financial Services will begin posting jobs on Friday, September 3rd through Emmanuel College Career Connect (EC3).

Financial Holds Students must be in good financial standing to attend classes or move into the residence halls. You can review your account balance and confirm you are paid in full by reviewing your Statement of Account through Online Academic Resources (OAR) via the Emmanuel Portal (portal.emmanuel.edu) If you have an outstanding balance, electronic payments may also be made through OAR. Should you have any questions about payment options, please contact our office immediately to avoid any complications with the start of classes and/or moving into the residence halls. Last Chance to Complete Health Insurance Requirement! Have you completed a student health insurance enrollment form or waiver for the upcoming academic year? If not, please go to www.universityhealthplans.com to complete either the online waiver or the enrollment form. Students who do not complete the waiver by September 3rd will be enrolled in the College’s health insurance plan and will be responsible for the $1,157 premium, regardless of whether they have other coverage. Study Abroad If you are considering studying abroad, we encourage you to meet with the Office of Student Financial Services. Although Emmanuel scholarships and grants are not available for use during your time abroad, there is federal, state and private funding that can be used to pay for your abroad costs. The Office of Student Financial Services can help you determine which options may be best for you and assist you with required paperwork.

If you are interested in working, we also encourage you to attend the Job Fair that is hosted by the Office of Internships and Career Development on September 16th in the Jean Yawkey Center. Several organizations who are interested in hiring Emmanuel students for part-time positions will be in attendance at the fair. If you are interested in having a part-time job while you are in school, you will want to come to campus with the appropriate identification to complete your employment paperwork. Such documentation includes a U.S. passport, driver’s license and Social Security card. Looking for a Refund? If you have a pending credit on your account (due to excess private loans and/or overpayment) and are looking for a refund, please complete the Refund Request Form by going to the “Tuition & Aid” section of the Emmanuel website and selecting “Forms & Publications.” Refund checks will not be available until all financial aid funds have been received and disbursed onto each student’s account after the add/drop period. Due to this, refund checks will not be available for students to purchase books or pay for September and October rent. Contact the OSFS If you have questions about paying for an Emmanuel education and the options available to assist with the cost of education, please know that the Office of Student Financial Services is available to help you through this process. We can be reached by phone at 617-735-9938, by e-mail at financialservices@emmanuel.edu or in person in room 340 of the Administration Building.
