February 2012
Dear Emmanuel Parents and FamiliesAt Emmanuel College, we take every opportunity to enhance the growth and development of students, and living on campus is a critical part of their overall experience. The purpose of this letter is to share with you the information that has been provided to your student regarding the housing selection process for the 2012-2013 academic year. My hope is that you may assist your student in making this important decision about housing for the coming year. The process of selecting on-campus housing for the 2012-2013 academic year will begin shortly after students return from spring break. Students have access to housing selection information through our internal network, the Emmanuel College My Saints Portal. Residence Life and Housing has created a “team site” called “Room Selection” for students on the Portal with all pertinent information for room selection. Please assist us in directing your son or daughter to this information. In order for students to participate in the room selection process, they must be paid in full or be current on the monthly payment plan for the spring 2012 semester. As part of this process, each student who plans to sign up for on-campus housing for next year must complete an online housing lease and submit a $200 housing deposit which will be applied to their fall semester bill by Monday, March 26, 2011. The online housing lease can be found through the “Room Selection” Team site. Please be advised that the submission of this lease commits a student to housing on campus for an entire academic year, both Fall 2012 and Spring 2013. All payments and questions should be directed to the Office of Residence Life and Housing Office, in the basement of St. Ann Hall. If you will be assisting your student with this deposit, please note the following accepted forms of payment:
Check – a personal check in the amount of $200 payable to Emmanuel College. Be sure to include your student’s name and Emmanuel ID number on the check. This check should be given to your student. Your student can submit the check to the Office of Residence Life and Housing located in the ground level of St. Ann Hall. The student must submit his or her online housing lease and other appropriate forms by the deadline in order to be considered for housing for the upcoming year.
Credit Card – Visa, MasterCard and Discover are accepted. You may pay using a credit card by completing the Payment Option Form, available on our website. Credit card information will not be taken over the telephone.
Should your student decide to change his or her mind about living on campus next year, the housing deposit is partially refundable (50%) until Monday, April 30, 2012 (postmark deadline). After April 30, 2012 through August 31, 2012, students may cancel their housing but their deposit will be forfeited. To request a partial refund, your student must complete the on-line cancellation request on the Emmanuel College Portal. For those of you who have students who are looking to move off campus next year, we have been asked by the city of Boston to remind you that there is a city ordinance that calls for no more than four unrelated persons to share a dwelling in the city. This ordinance is designed to alleviate overcrowding situations in the community. If you have any questions about the room selection process, please feel free to review the Room Selection 2012-2013 information on our web site. This information is available at www.emmanuel.edu under Student Life or by contacting the Office of Residence Life and Housing at 617- 735-9746. Thank you for your time and attention. Sincerely,
Susan K. Benzie Director of Residence Life and Housing
