Formatting Your Event Page The most important information on the page is the event: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7.

Title Date and Time Location Cost (if applicable) Brief Description RSVP Information (if applicable) All other descriptive info

When creating your event listing, it’s best to list information in order of importance. Always have the date and time information at the top, and then go into the other details.

Other tips: • Don’t center justify: While centering the text might feel different and exciting, it slows the reader down and makes them work to find the information. Keep the text in its normal, left-justified setting, and only use centered or right if emphasis is needed for a single line of text. • Don’t underline for emphasis: Web readers will expect the text to be a link. • Don’t use other colors, like red, etc. except in very rare, special circumstances (for example, tickets to one event during alumni weekend are sold out). • Don’t change the font: Every computer has a different set of fonts, and the font on our site was set Arial, which all computers read. If you used Curlz MT, a reader’s computer might not have it and they might instead see those words in a the same font point in a different font that they do have, like

TIMES

which will make the page not look like you intended.

Spacing: Each time you hit “Enter” the system will assume you’re starting a new paragraph and will enter a double-spaced line. If you would like to start on a new line but not have the double space, hold down “Shift” as you press “Enter.”
