World Class School Awards Ceremony In December, ten of our Year 13 World Class Ambassadors travelled to Oxford to represent Weatherhead at the annual Awards Ceremony held at the prestigious Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford University. Sanjita Akter, Emma Baldwin-Quirk, Libby Evans, Miki He, Izzy King, Polly Knapton, Jess Lawlor, Claire McGeoghegan, Aimee Morrison and Tyler Price worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic to enable our school to be re-accredited and the trip was a well deserved treat! As well as achieving our re-accreditation we also celebrated Polly becoming a World Class Assessor. The group enjoyed attending an ‘Oxplore’ seminar in which Libby and Izzy were runners up in the competition with their entry ‘Could modern civilisation cope without money?’ The highlights of the trip included a tour of the University, keynote address from Robert Douglas-Fairhurst, Fellow at Magdalen College, author of Becoming Dickens and an audience with Dan Freedman, author of the best-selling Jamie Johnson series.

World Class School ‘School of the Year’ We were delighted to be shortlisted for the World Class School of the Year Award, which exemplifies what it means to be World Class. As a shortlisted school, we submitted a film demonstrating that we: • offer the best education to students in the UK • develop World Class skills which students need to flourish in an emerging global economy • give students the confidence to overcome barriers to recognise and achieve their potential. Although we did not win we were delighted to be nominated. The Sixth Form team were also up for the ‘Student of the Year’ Award for their hard work involved in re-accrediting and we were delighted that Polly Knapton was awarded runner-up.
