Our Year 10 GCSE Geography students recently completed two successful fieldwork days as part of their GCSE course. On Monday 7 July, they travelled to Loggerheads Country Park in North Wales to investigate how river features change downstream. Blessed with sunny weather, students enthusiastically entered the River Alyn and collected a range of data on river velocity, depth, and sediment size.

A week later, the group headed to Liverpool city centre to explore how footfall changes with distance from the city centre. In the morning, students conducted pedestrian counts, land use surveys and questionnaires in Liverpool One, before moving to Bold Street in the afternoon for comparative data collection. The students will analyse their findings and complete their fieldwork write-ups when they return in September, drawing conclusions and evaluating their investigations.
