WELCOME TO
bet365 JUMP FINALE DAY
Welcome to Sandown Park for our bet365 Jump Finale, the last day of the 2021/22 Jump Season.
It was on 24th April 1875 that Sandown Park first opened its gates, so as we approach our 150th birthday, we are proud to still be welcoming guests to this, our original fixture, bet365 Gold Cup Day. We would like to thank bet365 for its generous and long-standing sponsorship of this raceday, which began over 15 years ago. We have seven superb races to savour, including the Grade One bet365 Celebration Chase, the Grade Two bet365 Oaksey Chase and our feature race, the Grade Three bet365 Gold Cup Handicap Chase. The bet365 Gold Cup has a long and storied history, with some of the greatest horses in the sport featuring on its roll of honour.
Preceding the enthralling action on track, we are delighted to be crowning the Champion Jockey, Champion Trainer, Champion Owner and Champion Conditional for the Jump season. Please make sure to join us around the Parade Ring at 12.45 as we celebrate those that have been successful this season.
We would like to extend our congratulations to Brian Hughes, who will be crowned Champion Jockey for the second time this afternoon, having become only the fourth ever Jump jockey to achieved 200 winners in a season. The Champion Owner trophy will be going to JP McManus for a remarkable 15th time, having amassed well in excess of £2.5million in prize money. Paul Nicholls will be collecting his 13th Champion Trainer prize, having won over £2.6million in prize money this season, with big wins including the Betfair Tingle Creek Chase here in December. This year’s Champion Conditional title goes to Kevin Brogan, who will be lifting the trophy for the first time after a wonderful season. Presenting the Champion Conditional trophy will be recently retired amateur jockey Sam Waley-Cohen. Sam called time on his riding career earlier this month after winning the Randox Grand National on Noble Yeats, crowning an outstanding 23 years in the saddle. Sam also won the Cheltenham Gold Cup, two King George VI Chases and the bet365 Gold Cup here at Sandown Park. We are also celebrating some of the horses who have achieved great things this season, with an equine parade before the Championship presentations. I hope that you have a fantastic time with us at Sandown Park and wish all the horses and their connections the very best of luck.
