A warm welcome to Newmarket Racecourse and the first day of the QIPCO Guineas Festival. We have three fantastic days of racing to look forward to, along with entertainment for all to enjoy off the track.

Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to thank QIPCO and British Champions Series for their support across the next three days here at the Rowley Mile.

We are also extremely grateful to bet365, RaceHorse Lotto and Nyetimber who are sponsoring races across today’s card. Nyetimber are kindly supporting the new Nyetimber Eclipse Lawn, which racegoers are encouraged to explore throughout the afternoon. We now have an eightrace card, with the Group 2 bet365 Mile being run here at Newmarket, having moved from Sandown Park following an abandonment.

The feature race today is the Group 2 Jockey Club Stakes, run over 1 mile and 2 furlongs, often a chance to see some of the leading middle-distance horses for the first time in the season. Al Kazeem, Shirocco and Sixties Icon are amongst some of the great horses who have added their name to the roll of honour for this race

Wearedelightedtowelcomeanumberofcommunitygroupsandvolunteerstotheracecourse, who have been nominated as Community Champions. The winner will be announced this afternoon and will win a magnum of Nyetimber and a £1000 charity bet courtesy of John Christie

Looking ahead, we have two more fantastic days of racing as the QIPCO Guineas Festival continues, with both Classics, the QIPCO 2000 Guineas and QIPCO 1000 Guineas still to come. There are tickets available for both these days, where we will also be celebrating the coronation of King Charles III.

Across the season, we would like to thank the European Breeders Fund for their contributions to prize money and Al Basti Equiworld for their continued sponsorship of our Owners and Trainers facility.
