FACTS & STATS

The Jockey Club Stakes

RACE DESCRIPTION: For four-year-olds and above, this one and a half mile contest is a Group 2 and will attract some of the highest-quality middle distance horses around this season. Unlike in a handicap when a horse’s official rating reflects the weight that they must carry, in a Group 2 all runners carry the same weight regardless of any previous form. In this case colts and geldings carry 9st 1lb and fillies 8st 12lb although any runner which has already won a Group 1 or 2 race will be issued with a 3lb penalty.

After winning at Newcastle two weeks prior to this, Living Legend followed that up nicely with a length-and-threequarter victory over short-priced favourite Yibir Trainer Mark Johnston has a fine record in this race and since teaming up with son Charlie, the pair continued that excellent record
