NEWMARKET NEWS:
NEWMARKET PROVIDES THE STAGE FOR CHARITABLE DONATION
The proceeds of the Glenn Roeder Raceday were formally presented to The Brain Tumour Charity at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile Racecourse on Wednesday 19 October.
Sally Williams, the charity’s Philanthropy Manager, received a cheque for more than £160,000 from the Roeder family following the fundraising event staged at the July Course this summer in honour of the former footballer and manager, Glenn Roeder, who lost his battle with the disease in February 2021 at the age of 65. Fundraising activities at the Glenn Roeder Raceday held on Saturday, 23 July extended beyond the VIP marquee where 360 guests took part in a live auction, prize draws and competitions to an international online auction supported by leading sports personalities and organisations, bucket collections at venues around the UK and a JustGiving page in the name of Glenn Roeder. Responding on behalf of The Brain Tumour Charity Sally Williams said, “Everyone at The Brain Tumour Charity has been completely blown away by the incredible support from The Glenn Roeder Race Day and the quite remarkable amount raised from such a fantastic event. I was fortunate to attend the race day in July and could feel the genuine love and respect for Glenn, Holly and the whole family which was also clearly demonstrated
