JUNE RACEDAY

FREE WI-FI

How

Newbury Racecourse is delighted to offer all racegoers free use of our Wi-Fi service.

Good afternoon and a very warm welcome to the Grosvenor Sport June Raceday.

We have an enjoyable afternoon in store, and I would like to extend our sincere thanks to today’s sponsors: LocaliQ, Darley, the European Breeders Fund, Pump Technology, the family and friends of Harriet Cozens, and our title partner, Grosvenor Sport.

The feature race of the afternoon, the £40,000 Darley EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes over the straight mile will see eight runners go to post The William Haggas-trained Consecrated, who is a half-sister to the former Hungerford Stakes winner Sacred, will be hoping to add to her April Newbury success for the Cheveley Park Stud owner breeder operation.

Looking ahead, the Racecourse’s popular Summer Evening Series returns this July with three exciting raceday parties, once again presented by our valued partner, Hits Radio. The series will take place across three Thursday evenings, each with its own unique theme. Racegoers can look forward to The 70s Disco on Thursday 3rd July, The Wild Wild West on Thursday 10th July and The Ibiza Beach Club on Thursday 24th July For the best value, keep an eye out for our Three Party Pass, which offers access to all three raceday parties from just £49.

2025 also marks our biggest ever year of music, with four spectacular music racedays in the calendar We are thrilled to welcome Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Ella Henderson for Weatherbys Super Sprint Day on Saturday 19th July, Bjorn Again on Friday 15th August, Clean Bandit on Visit Malta Hungerford Day on Saturday 16th August, and James Bay as part of the Dubai Duty Free International Weekend on Saturday 20th September Discounted Early Bird tickets, passes and hospitality packages are available for a limited time via our website.

Finally, I would like to thank all our racegoers for joining us today. I hope you have a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon, and we look forward to welcoming you back on Tuesday 24th June for our next raceday.

Thank You to Today’s Race Sponsors

How To Bet

There are plenty of ways to bet at Newbury – you can either bet with the bookmakers in the ‘ring’ in front of the Grandstand and the Crafty Filly, at one of the many Totepool kiosks or in one of our Betting Shops, located on the ground floor of the Dubai Duty Free Grandstand and the Berkshire Stand. Here’s a step-by-step guide of what to do:

1. Select your horse and note its name and racecard number.

2. Choose your bet –‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are the two most common types:

• ‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.

• ‘Each-way’ is when you place two bets in one: one for your horse to come first, the other for it to be placed. Therefore £2 each-way = £4 total bet.

• What qualifies as a ‘place’ depends on the number of runners: between two and four runners - first place only; between five and seven runners - first and second place; eight runners and over - first three places; 16 runners and over (handicaps only) - first four places.

• The place part of the bet will be paid out at a fraction of the odds, usually a quarter or a fifth - this varies depending on the bookmaker, so check if you are unsure!

3. Decide the amount, also known as the stake that you are comfortable to bet.

4. Choose your outlet and place your bet e.g. “£2 win on number three” or “£2 each-way on number six”.

5. If your horse has won, wait to hear “weighed in” over the public address system and then go and collect any winnings!

6. Got so swept up you forgot to collect your cash? There are details of how to collect winning slips after the raceday on our terms and conditions page near the back of the racecard.

Celebrating Harriet’s big birthday milestone!

Today’s race is proudly sponsored in celebration of Harriet’s big birthday – a beloved mother, sister, and cherished friend. Harriet’s passion for horse racing runs deep, rooted in treasured memories and lifelong joy.

Newbury racecourse holds a special meaning for Harriet, hosting her wedding reception with her late husband, Tony, and many return visits thereafter, so we are pleased to cement her connection by sponsoring this race. Harriet often spoke of sponsoring a memorial race for Tony, but we thought she deserved a race of her own! We honour Harriet not only for her love of the sport but for the warmth, grace, and strength she brings to all who know her. Her spirit is as vibrant and enduring as the horses she so adores Here’s to Harriet – with admiration, with love, and with all our cheers.

Happy birthday, Harriet!
