WEDNESDAY 26TH JULY, 2023 Complimentary
EVENING RACING

Welcome to our 26th July summer evening race meeting. We have 6 races this evening, the first of which starts at 6.10pm and the last at 8.50 pm. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors who are EBF, Naylors Estate Agents plus the Pearce family and the Waterfield Family.

Please take a moment to familiarise yourself with the site map this evening, which will allow you to easily find everything.

Important points to note are:

Public bars and food stands will close today immediately following the final race and the racecourse will close shortly after

Please familiarise yourself with our facilities and in particular the location of our First Aid unit. We have 2 qualified first aiders with us this evening..

For our loyal Owners and Trainers we have provided the Club Room where you will find televisions, a bar, complimentary tea and coffee and a two course meal plus additional viewing from top floor boxes or the Club Terrace area. Annual badge holders can use the top floor boxes.

Please be aware that we are now cashless on all bar and food outlets accepting only debit or credit cards. Please be assured that turnstiles and betting facilities will continue to accept cash for the time being. For those customers who either forget their cards or do not possess a debit card or credit card, we have opened “voucher outlets” where you will be able to exchange your cash for vouchers and should you not spend your vouchers on the day you will be able to exchange them back for cash from the main office before you leave (up to 30 minutes after the last race), or use them on a future meeting.

This evening, these outlets are situated at the Main Office, the Main Tote building and the Betting Hall Tote. We are pleased to say that this change has sped up service and improved security.

Some other points of interest are:

• Our Veterinary Treatment rooms have been refurbished and updated, enabling our Veterinary Surgeons to give the best treatment as quick as possible if required.

• We are also delighted to say that our Executive Room, Club Room, Kube and the Nelson Suite have been completely refurbished including a new customer lift in the Grandstand. HAVE A GREAT EVENING, THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING US AND WE HOPE TO SEE YOU AGAIN FOR THE NEXT MEETING WHICH IS WEDNESDAY EVENING 2ND AUGUST.

Official BHA Ratings

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

You must be 18 or over to place a bet

You may be asked to provide proof of your age when placing a bet. If you cannot produce this, your bet will not be accepted.

Horse Welfare at Leicester Racecourse

At every meeting at Leicester Racecourse there are two specially-qualified equine vets appointed to look after the welfare of all horses in action. During the race one vet will be following the runners and can attend to a horse in the same response time as the Paramedic Teams responsible for treating injured jockeys The second vet is based below the stewards box in the grandstand, is in radio contact with his colleague following the runners, and can respond immediately to any uncovered emergency. In addition there is a third vet, a British Horseracing Authority Veterinary team and the stewards

The Racecourse also employs a specialist Horse Ambulance Team, equipped with a modern equine ambulance to enable injured horses to be transported safely to a veterinary hospital for treatment. It is now standard practice for screens to be erected around any horse receiving veterinary attention on the course This does not reflect on the severity of an injury, but allows the vet some privacy in which to administer treatment and provides the horse with a calm environment in which to make a recovery. Please do not assume the worst if you see screens erected around a fallen horse

2022: NO CORRESPONDING RACE

Hood worn first time by No 9. Sheepskin Cheek Pieces worn first time by No 2, 3. Blinkers worn by No 7. Visor worn by No 4. Running for the first time since Gelding No 6.

Probable S.P’s: 2-1 Trooper Bisdee (IRE), 10-3 Portoro (GB), 9-2 Selenachorus (GB), 14-1 Optician (GB), The Pug (IRE), 16-1 Kittykarma (IRE), 18-1 Congruent (IRE), 22-1 Ausdaisia (IRE), 28-1 Show Me The Wire (GB)

TROOPER BISDEE took his record in handicaps to 2-3 despite looking far from the finished article at Bath 7 days ago and, just the type to go on improving for his shrewd stable, he looks to hold sound claims once more. Portoro bolted up himself on handicap debut latest and along with Selenachorus heads up the dangers

I re-joined Leicester Racecourse as General Manager in February one month before Covid hit. The following 18 months proved very challenging indeed, however life was made so much easier thanks to Toni and Nucleus HR. Nucleus HR are professional and knowledgeable, without them I do not know how we would have coped. I would thoroughly recommend Nucleus HR for all your people needs.”
