1. FORM EXPERTVIEW
It’s

a pleasure to welcome all our Annual Members to Challenger Finals Day here at Haydock Park.

This day grows in strength every year and today the racing looks classy and competitive on an egg-ceedingly good card

Due to the positioning of Easter, we race on two of the next three Saturday’s and the action is eclectic - today we are wholly over jumps, next week flat only and a mixture of the two on Swinton Hurdle Day, so there really is something for everyone.

The coming flat season is also a belter, with the Temple Stakes just a matter of weeks away, together with a vast array of musical talent adorning our eardrums at various points during the summer

It’s been a pleasure to see so many of you at our various reciprocals up and down the country; Easter Monday sees our annual jaunt to Fakenham, a lovely racecourse to attend given the clement weather forecast

Today we have our usual compendium of amenities from a designated bar to viewing boxes high up the grandstand and please remember to utilise your designated viewing seating, which provides such a wonderful utopian setting on a lovely day such as this

I do hope you have an enjoyable and successful day’s racing today.

This looks wide open with the vote going to late-bloomer GLYNN, who was progressing well in this sphere until running in a Grade 2 when last seen in November Eldorado Allen often keeps much better company than this so can’t be dismissed from a career-low mark, while last year’s 1-2 Numitor and Dubai Days should go well again.

RACEHORSE & JOCKEY WELFARE

The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards In addition Haydock Park Racecourse employs a minimum of three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital
