TODAY’S RACING
TODAY’S SPONSORS
Welcome to Chelmsford City Racecourse
As we enter the more uncertain weather of autumn, the forecast light showers won’t dampen our spirits with seven races to look forward to and a fantastic party afterwards with Armand van Helden.
After racing, legendary DJ, record producer, remixer and songwriter, Armand van Helden, will take to the stage in the middle of the course to play some of his greatest hits, including You Don’t Know Me, My My My and I Want Your Soul amongst many others. It is impossible to pay tribute to Armand here, as one of house music’s most revered figures, with a career that has spanned three decades but what we do know is that this is a concert not to be missed.
Have a wonderful evening, enjoying the racing and listening to some great music.
Neil Graham Racing Director

Timeform Rating
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

NIGHT TARA put her three starts in maiden/novice company behind her when making a winning handicap debut over C&D earlier in the month and is just 2lb higher The daughter of Night Of Thunder could have more to offer on just her fifth career outing and she looks the one to beat. The consistent Backer Bilk wasn’t beaten far into third behind the selection last time and looks the main danger, while Hock Eye The Noo can fight it out for the minor honours.

Pinjarra won one of these events over 6f here last week and is likely to prove competitive once again, but APPLE’S ANGEL makes most appeal. Simon Dow’s filly finished a solid second in a handicap at Lingfield last time and this looks an easier opportunity. Sam’s Hope found one too good when favourite in a classified sprint at Wolverhampton and could also land a blow.

CITY SELECTIONS
Having been denied a clear run at a crucial point, INLET looked a little unlucky when finishing second at Lingfield nine days ago. The four-year-old makes grand appeal racing off an unchanged mark and compensation could be on the cards. Young Endless arrives on the back of a respectable third at Redcar and he may serve the most resistance to the selection, ahead of Arenas Del Tiempo.

INLET ran well when second over a longer trip at Lingfield recently despite not getting a clear run and looks up to winning a race of this nature if things fall right. Belaya River could be the improver for an in-form yard now upped in trip on handicap debut having been gelded. Of the rest, Grand Harbour could be worth another chance up in trip, while Hamandi Cruiser has been given more of a chance by the handicapper and may prove more competitive over a longer distance in first-time headgear
