SHE Catalogue
SHE Sweet ‘Art is a non-profit arts organisation based in London and dedicated to the promotion of upcoming and established artists through exciting art events with a difference. SHE, Sweet ‘Art’s 15th large mixed media art event with an open submissions policy takes place at the stunning 47-49 Tanner Street, a Victorian warehouse just a stone’s throw from London’s South Bank. On the 30th and 31st of July 2016, SHE showcases the work of over 60 visual and performance artists as part of the Perform Gender Festival hosted by Ugly Duck. SHE exhibits the work of local and international artists exploring the theme of femininity, feminine identity and issues faced by women worldwide, as a marginalised group. SHE also includes the outcomes of an ambitious international artistic exchange in which replications of the same curated artworks are simultaneously exhibited at SHE UK as well as SHE exhibitions in our partnering galleries; the LPM Gallery in Texas, USA and the Soa La Gallery in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. As part of the international collaboration five artists from the UK will also exhibit works that have been created across continents with artists from both Vietnam and the US, in a celebration of international solidarity, connectedness and difference. Along with exhibiting a selection of artworks, from the politically challenging and provocative to the aesthetically beautiful, SHE also aims to be a fun and immersive art experience for visitors attending the event, following the Sweet ‘Art ethos of inclusivity and audience interaction. Sponsored by Cinesync, visitors also have the opportunity to artistically connect with guests in Vietnam and the US in real time. With help from our sponsors and collaborators SHE aims to be Sweet ‘Arts most ambitious event to date, continuing the ethos of making art accessible to all in celebration and solidarity! Following the SHE London event and in understanding the importance of the archiving of the creative processes of marginalised groups, Sweet ‘Art will create a document recording the international arts collaboration and the exhibition, both online and in print. Copies will be available to purchase through the Sweet ‘Art Sweet Shop via the Sweet ‘Art website.
