CLASS OF 2024
Join us in congratulating the Class of 2024!
Dear Mount Pisgah Christian School Community,
I’m pleased to welcome you to this edition of our school magazine. Inside, you’ll find stories that highlight essential aspects of our school — community, growth, and faith.
This issue features our college counseling program, which helps students find their fit. We also share news of our recent purchase of 22 acres of property, a step forward in our plans for our campus. Additionally, we extend our gratitude to those who supported the For Pisgah Fund last year. Your generosity makes a difference to every student in our school.
You’ll also read about the introduction of our Portrait of a Graduate and the accomplishments of the Class of 2024. From academics to arts to athletics, the past year has been filled with achievements that reflect our core values and commitment to excellence.
As always, none of this would be possible without the support of our families, faculty and staff, alumni, and friends. Thank you for being a vital part of our journey as we continue to build on our foundation.
In Christ,
Chris Harmon, Ed.D.

At Mount Pisgah Christian School, our mission is to provide an outstanding college-preparatory education grounded in Christian faith and values. One hundred percent of seniors are accepted to a four-year college or university, many by their first choice.
At the center of this mission is the Mount Pisgah College Counseling Program, directed by Susan Reilly. Mount Pisgah is a member of the Association for College Counseling in Independent Schools (ACCIS) and the National Association of College Admissions Counseling.
The college decision process can often be time-consuming, stressful, and expensive for students and families. The endless tours, applications, essays, and fees affect students as they make this important decision. The College Counseling Program at Mount Pisgah helps provide personalized guidance and support to help each student navigate the college application journey successfully.
“We work one-on-one with students to explore their interests, identify colleges that align with their values, and guide them through the application and financial aid process. We also encourage students to reflect on what is important to them so that they can make informed decisions about their academic futures.”
Susan Reilly has been the Director of College Counseling at Mount Pisgah for 11 years, which she says is “the most meaningful position I have had as an employee here.” She has also held roles in Athletics, the Middle School, and the Upper School. She and her husband’s three children and one daughter-in-law are Mount Pisgah alumni.
Each fall, Mount Pisgah hosts a college mini-fair with admissions representatives from over 20 colleges and universities in attendance. The juniors and seniors who attend are encouraged to build connections, ask questions, and receive admissions information to help them in the process. Ms. Reilly describes the event as an “example of why access to professional development is so important in education.”
“Professionals in this industry often say that students create their destinies, not the colleges they attend. I find this to be so true of our alumni,” says Ms. Reilly. “Regardless of where they matriculate, our graduates tend to thrive in their respective environments.”
“The lessons they learn here — diligence in the classroom, forming intergenerational relationships, the value of involvement within our community, and giving back to others — THIS is what contributes to their happiness and success in college and in life.”

Mount Pisgah prepared me for the rigors of engineering and has set me on a path to being successful in what I do next. I am so blessed to be at the United States Merchant Marine Academy. The opportunities and jobs at my reach post-grad is incredible, and Mount Pisgah and Mrs. Reilly gave me the access to reach my goal of attending a service academy.
I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else if I’m honest. The academic environment is challenging, but opportunities for friendships and diverse extracurriculars make Georgia Tech a rewarding experience.

I really enjoyed my time at Samford University. Mount Pisgah had been my home since I was three years old, so leaving there for college was a big change. However, Samford was the perfect fit for me, and going there was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

ANNUAL REPORT
The For Pisgah Fund demonstrates the strength of our community, united in common purpose.
Each year, alumni, parents, grandparents, faculty and staff, and friends give to the For Pisgah Fund because they believe in Mount Pisgah — a school that values faith, relationships, curiosity, engagement, and achievement.
As our primary and comprehensive annual giving initiative, the For Pisgah Fund ensures that every student receives the highest quality education from talented, skilled, and committed teachers in a Christ-centered environment.
Mount Pisgah is very fortunate that our parent participation last school year, 2023-2024, was 63.2%. The current national average participation rate in annual giving at private schools hovers around 40%. Thank you to our wonderful parents!
I absolutely love my job. I have the unique opportunity to connect with the entire Mount Pisgah community, from PreK to Upper School, Alumni to Parents, Alumni Parents to Grandparents, and all the friends of the school. I also get to work firsthand with those who are joining Mount Pisgah in the admissions process. And from where I sit, the view is wonderful. I see such excitement about what is happening at the school. As this report shows, our generosity is on the march as our giving continues to grow. People are giving to Pisgah because Pisgah is who they are. Our admissions process had a record number of applications, as families from across the region are wanting MPCS to be their partner, because Mount Pisgah is who they want to be.
While numbers do not always tell the whole story, they do tell us this — that Mount Pisgah is a special place where people are fully invested in the success of the students and the families of Mount Pisgah. It is a place where we come together For Pisgah. Thank you to everyone as we continue to move Pisgah forward. God is good. He is good all the time.
For Pisgah,
Mark A. Jennings, Ph.D. ASSISTANT HEAD OF SCHOOL FOR ADVANCEMENT

On April 12, 2024, the 1986 Society enjoyed a beautiful evening full of Mount Pisgah community, music from our Middle and Upper School student jazz combo, current updates from Dr. Chris Harmon, and future projects for Mount Pisgah from Dr. Mark Jennings! It was a picture-perfect evening at Primrose Cottage in downtown Roswell with our 1986 Society members. What an evening!
The 1986 Society, named in honor of the school’s founding, recognizes those donors who have given a qualifying gift of $5,000 to Mount Pisgah Christian School during the current fiscal year or during the previous fiscal year (not cumulative over the two years).
We appreciate and thank you for your support!

The Endowment Fund - One Gift, A Lifetime Investment
For Mount Pisgah Christian School to be a top-tier Christian education institution, endowment becomes a pressing need. Endowments are a pool of funds that continue in perpetuity. A designated portion of the return (approximately 4%) provides a stream of income to support financial aid, faculty, and capital maintenance.
The Legacy Society
Mount Pisgah, like all Christian independent schools, exists because someone felt a need for the school. There are only three ways to fund Mount Pisgah — tuition, annual giving, and income from endowment(s).
Presently, this is a challenge for us. Our endowment provides less than 1% of the operating budget — ideally, it should provide at least 15% (national average). As a top - tier school, we need to dramatically increase our endowment to meet these standards. One of the best ways to do this is through Legacy Society gifts of charitable trusts, will bequests, life insurance, or retirement plan assets. Those in the Legacy Society are making transformational gifts that will outlive their time as parents and volunteer service to the school.
The Legacy Society recognizes and honors individuals and families who have made planned gifts of any size to benefit Mount Pisgah. Legacy Society members also have the opportunity, depending on the amount of the gift, to designate their gift to an existing endowment or create a named endowment fund, chair, or scholarship.
Please reach out to Ellen Perry, Director of Development at eperry@mountpisgahschool.org for questions and more information.

Mount Pisgah Christian School is excited to announce the acquisition of 22 acres of land adjacent to our campus. This purchase, finalized in early May after a year and a half of planning with our board, staff, and engineering partners, has now received approval from the city of Johns Creek to be part of the school’s final footprint. This brings our school’s entire property size to 93 acres.
As we plan for future growth, we are actively dreaming and strategizing to ensure the new space supports the evolving needs of our students. We envision a spacious, pastoral campus designed to enhance both learning and extracurricular activities for generations to come.
Since 1986, MPCS has been committed to teaching foundational truths and preparing students to think critically and creatively and to act with courage and compassion. As the world changes, so must our approach to education. This new land provides an opportunity to expand both academically and athletically.
We look forward to sharing more about these plans and inviting the community to explore the new property as we shape the future of Mount Pisgah’s campus.

Mount Pisgah Athletics had an exceptional year in 2023-2024, highlighted by our Girls Volleyball team winning the state championship, our Wrestling program earning individual state titles and a team state runner-up finish, and our Boys Basketball team making it to the state final four.
From the success of our fall, winter, and spring sports to the effort our student-athletes exude across all programs, Mount Pisgah Athletics is thriving. These accomplishments reflect not just individual victories but the collective spirit of teamwork, discipline, and faith that defines our program. We are very proud of every athlete who contributed to another memorable year, both on the field and off. Go Patriots!
VOLLEYBALL STATE CHAMPS
The Girls Volleyball team secured the school’s first GHSA State Championship with a 3-1 victory over Whitefield Academy in the championship. The team set several school records, with seniors Nevaeh Arnold surpassing 1,000 career assists and Lane Kruse earning the kill record at 889. Coach Morgan was named Region 6 and 1A State Coach of the Year, while Kruse was honored as Region 6 Offensive Player of the Year and 1A State Player of the Year. The team finished with a remarkable 41-9 record, capping off a historic season.
WRESTLING
The Mount Pisgah Varsity Wrestling team had an outstanding season, finishing as the runner-up in the 2024 Dual State Championship and the 2024 Individuals State Championship. This marks the sixth consecutive year the team advanced to the State Dual Semi-Finals, following their fifth straight Area Dual Championship. At the Individual State Tournaments in Macon, eight wrestlers competed, with seven placing in the Top 5.

In the spring, our teaching faculty participated in the 3rd annual EduCarnival, our in-house professional development summit. Teachers learn from their colleagues about a wide range of spiritual, educational, and developmental subjects. Interactive sessions are led by teachers who share their experiences with peers, creating an environment where the wealth of knowledge within each department can be shared.
Thank you to our presenters and event organization team for helping us aspire to distinction and educate with intention.
JOHN MESSINGER
If you’ve played on a Mount Pisgah Christian School sports team, you’ve almost certainly met Coach John Messinger. As one of the longest-serving staff members at Mount Pisgah, John has served as head athletic trainer and teacher of anatomy and physiology in the Middle School and Upper School. His 17 years at Mount Pisgah have brought him many moments of joy both on and off the field.
John and his wife Kristin have three children who graduated from Mount Pisgah and are thankful for the foundation the school provides. “Mount Pisgah laid the foundation for their faith, prepared them for college and life. We consider the Mount Pisgah Christian School Community part of our extended family.”
On the field, John Messinger leads with a servant’s heart. As a head athletic trainer, he is at the forefront of caring for our large number of student-athletes. From light scrapes to more serious injuries, John’s priority is to see every athlete return to their best as soon as possible.
“As a healthcare professional, I want to use the gifts God has blessed me with to serve others. Developing lasting relationships while caring for the student-athletes on all the fields and courts of play is a very rewarding experience. Caring for an athlete who is injured and then watching them overcome the injury and return to play is truly a holy moment.”
DIGITAL MUSIC
Mount Pisgah Christian School has introduced a new digital music class that offers students the opportunity to explore music in a modern, project-based environment.
In this course, students learn to create, produce, and edit music using digital tools. Their projects range from writing jingles and advertisements to scoring movie scenes and producing podcasts.
“This class will allow them to utilize the music theory that they learned in Lower School, orchestra, or band to create their own music,” explains the class’s teacher, Anisha Lewis.
The course helps students realize that a career in music doesn’t just mean becoming a performer or teacher; digital composition is a growing field with real-world applications.
“I hope that students who take this class can foster both technical skills and a creative understanding of music in the digital age.”
MOUNT PISGAH ALUMNI IN THE LIMELIGHT
ACTOR AND COMPOSER FIND SUCCESS IN THE WORLD OF ENTERTAINMENT.
One Mount Pisgah Christian School alum has made the jump to the big screen.
After graduating in 2016, Michael Provost pursued his dream of becoming an actor. In his career thus far, he is best known for the Netflix hit show “Insatiable” (20172019). More recently, he was a part of Focus Features’s “The Holdovers” (2023), an Academy Awards Best Picture nominee. “Horizon The American Saga II” premiered at the Venice Film Fest in September.
Michael credits a portion of his initiative, creativity, and critical thinking to his time at Mount Pisgah. “A Mount Pisgah classroom rewards initiative, fosters creativity, and champions critical thinking.”
“The teachers I knew who always went the extra mile were Mrs. Dover, Mrs. Koch, Mrs. Anthony, Mr. Rogers, Coach Perry, Mr. Whitehurst, Mr. Lang, Mrs. Morris, Coach O’Connor, Mr. York, and Coach Forester, to name a few. But like most alumni would say, my classmates and friends influenced me the most. They were the ones who supported my decision to go after my dream,” he said.
When he is not auditioning or on set, Michael works to constantly improve his craft through classes, books, and workshops. He expresses his creativity through short film with friends and enjoys learning all aspects of filmmaking.
But more important than his acting, Michael enjoys giving back to his community. He partners with and raises money for groups such as Made by Dyslexia and the Barbara Bush Foundation. As someone with dyslexia, Michael is very familiar with the importance of structured literacy training in schools.
Programs like Orton-Gillingham and Wilson are the reason he was able to turn dyslexia from a “disability” into his superpower. He also believes that getting children and adults reading is a key element in bringing about positive change in the world.
He works for the most competitive music publishers in Hollywood including JDM Music and Sound, Dos Brains, Universal Production Music, PitchHammer Music, and Arkival.
Clientele of his music include Disney/Marvel Studios, Hulu, Warner Bros., Paramount, Sony Pictures, ESPN, FX, and HBO/Max.
This year he has composed the music for the official trailers of “It Ends With Us” and “Transformers: One,” including composing a custom version of the “Robots in Disguise” theme.
You can also hear his work in the official trailer for the “Sonic The Hedgehog 2” as well as TV spots for “Borderlands”, “Dune: Part 2”, “The Marvels,” and “House of Dragon” Season 2.
“I want to thank my family at Mount Pisgah who helped garner and cultivate my love for music. I really felt that the student body and staff there supported me greatly and gave me opportunities that I would otherwise not have been given.”
After Swift started attending MPCS in 2010, “The staff and students at Mount Pisgah immediately revitalized my passion and love for music in a way I can’t explain.”
Years later, Swift’s journey to write music for advertising came from an opportunity to join trailer music giant Really Slow Motion Trailer Music, where he learned the quality and resilience needed to work and succeed in this highly competitive field.
A school creates a portrait of a graduate to capture the essence of a well-rounded individual who has successfully completed their education. The portrait aims to reflect the academic achievements, personal growth, and unique qualities of the graduate, serving as a symbol of their educational journey and accomplishments. Over the course of the past year, a team of faculty and staff identified four characteristics that define our students as they prepare for life after Mount Pisgah. Our vision is that these characteristics will define our students as they prepare for life beyond Mount Pisgah.
Students understand the message of the gospel of Christ. Through this, students will know the values of Truth, integrity, and honesty and make decisions that align with these values, demonstrating wisdom and courage in their actions.
GROUNDED SCHOLARS
Students are prepared for college-level work by successfully completing a challenging liberal arts curriculum. They value knowledge and continuously learn and grow. They are problem-solvers who think critically and creatively.
RELATIONAL
Students foster authentic relationships, collaborating effectively with others. They value the worth of each individual and treat others with charity and respect.
EQUIPPED
Students demonstrate adaptability and grit. By embodying these qualities, students are capable of navigating life’s challenges, serving others, and making a positive impact on their community and beyond.

“Life is full of unexpected challenges, and you never know when you’ll be asked to step into a new role. There will be times when you feel unprepared, as if the weight of the world is on your shoulders and everyone expects you to handle it. Those times will be challenging, and you will feel like giving up. If I can leave you with one encouragement, one itsy bit of wisdom, let it be that you are stronger than you think. You are more than a grade, more than a ranking, more than what people tell you you are. I am genuinely amazed by everything that this class has accomplished, and it is impossible to fathom what lies ahead for all of us.
So now, as we prepare to bid farewell to this chapter of our lives, or take our final bow, if you will, I encourage you to embrace the sentimentality of it all. Embrace the cliches, the heartfelt goodbyes, embrace the tears. Because this is our final embrace of familiarity before we step into the unknown. Thank you to each and every one of you. You have all had a profound impact on my life, whether you know it or not. So, one last time, to the Mount Pisgah graduating Class of 2024, congratulations, we did it!”
