SATURDAY, MAY 28, 2022 Segerstrom Center for the Arts

We provide an unparalleled arts and academic education in a creative, challenging, and nurturing environment to a diverse group of students who are passionate about the arts, preparing them to reach their highest potential.

Established in 1987, the nationally recognized Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA) offers a dynamic school culture that enables students to flourish as artists and scholars. The school currently serves a diverse student body of nearly 2,300 students in grades 7-12 from more than 100 cities throughout Southern California. In addition to offering a challenging college-preparatory academic program that produces high-achieving, motivated scholars, OCSA provides aspiring young artists with the opportunity to refine their skills and flourish in one of 16 arts conservatories. Each year, more than 200 concerts, recitals, staged performances, and exhibitions are presented at a variety of venues in Orange County and throughout the world, providing students with the unique experience of entertaining and inspiring thousands of audience members. OCSA is a tuition-free, donation-dependent public charter school; no student is offered or denied enrollment based on financial capacity. The school’s rigorous academic education coupled with advanced arts training has impacted many students, molding generations of creative thinkers, leaders, artists, innovators, and entrepreneurs.

Dear Friends and Families, It is with great pleasure and pride that I welcome you all to Season Finale 2022, presented by the Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA) Foundation! As we bring this extraordinary 35th anniversary season to a close, I am in awe of how the OCSA community has come together all year long to recognize everything that makes OCSA so special. This evening we not only celebrate all that we have accomplished during this milestone year, but also the culmination of 35 years of exemplary arts education, academic success, and remarkable talent. The last three-and-a-half decades have been an incredible journey. I would like to take a moment to recognize all of the individuals who have helped to make the OCSA dream a reality. I want to begin by giving a very special thank you to OCSA’s founder and an important mentor in my life, Dr. Ralph Opacic. It has been such an honor to learn from Dr. Opacic over the years. What he fostered and built at OCSA is truly unparalleled, and I am both grateful to have his continued support and humbled that I have the opportunity to carry on what he started so many years ago. I would also like to express my appreciation to our 2021-2022 Season Sponsors, as well as to our Board of Trustees, Foundation Board of Directors, Emeritus Board, President’s Circle, Encore, and PSO members. Their continued support, leadership, and vision help to shape the lives of our students each and every day. Finally, I must acknowledge our parents, alumni, administrators, faculty and staff, members of the local community, and most importantly, our talented student artists. Our students provide the inspiration and driving force behind everything we do. And now, I am thrilled to have you join me in celebrating the final moments of this truly phenomenal Year of a Million Dreams. I look forward to all of the success yet to come from our brilliant OCSA community over the next 35 years and beyond. All the best,

Teren M. Shaffer President & CEO Orange County School of the Arts
