A MESSAGE FROM OUR PUBLISHERS

W e Are Jersey Magazine is a subsidiary company birthed out of the parent business entitled Jersey Turn’t Up Entertainment. Having achieved rising success within only two years of business, the owners wanted to create something that would expand their networking repertoire while promoting positive talent both locally and abroad. The idea of creating We Are Jersey Magazine began when co- CEOs, Daniel Banks & Bridget Papino, were featured in the NOVEMBER 2014 issue of another magazine company. After discussion with the owner of that magazine, as well as experiencing the positive responses that exposure generated towards their entertainment business, they decided to begin a magazine company of their own that would target a new type of entertainment promoting style. We Are Jersey Magazine’s goal is designed to provide exposure, references and resources that will influence all those aspiring to do something positive with the talents they possess. Through the lives of the individuals that are highlighted in the magazine, it is the desire of We Are Jersey Magazine to encourage, uplift and inspire anyone to continue to soar to greater heights and deeper depths with their abilities. While We Are Jersey Magazine primarily focuses on talent within the state of New Jersey, it is open to talent presented from abroad. The single focus is the promotion of positive talent so others can read and possibly experience for themselves the benefits that these talents offer. “We Are Jersey” is a positive platform with great opportunities. are highlighted in the magazine, it is the desire of We Are Jersey Magazine to encourage, uplift and inspire anyone to continue to soar to greater heights and deeper depths with their abilities. Qiana “Chanzizr” Chance of Newark, NJ is the

Founder and CEO of Winot Brands est. 2002. One of the main factors in www.jerseyturntupent.com

starting this company derived from hardship, obstacles and a lack of a place to record music. The name was created in a basement after pondering the thought “why not us”? If Master P could distribute CD’s from the trunk and invent his own business model then 12

URKISH-ROYALE IS A North Jersey artist known for his lyrical flows and old school beats.

Between

his multi-syllable rhyme schemes and perspective-shifting messages, Turk is a hip-hop artist to the core and finds a way to merge the new school with the old. No stranger to life’s harsh realities, Turkish Royale grew up in low income living conditions in Istanbul, Turkey, later transitioning to the red brick apartment complex in New Jersey. Witnessing the world's corruption first hand at a young age, and the strain it caused on his family, he built the tools to maneuver through the game, and is bound for great success; he strives to be a catalyst for positive change. His gritty upbringing and hunger for success is evident in Turkish-Royale’s view of life in his music.

Turkish-Royale has been very

active in the hip-hop community since his introduction to the hip-hop scene. He has since become a staple in the North Jersey hip hop scene, making a name for himself even further thanks to his event company ‘Madminds’. The Madminds brand hosts artist showcases, open mics, and concerts, among other events. With his collaborative efforts, Turkish Royale has provided hundreds of other aspiring artists the opportunity and platform to perform. He continues to build the Madminds brand and hopes to make it an even larger performing platform within a few short years.

statement, but it’s message rings true. Rock stars are spontaneous, creative rebels; they do what they want, when they want, and live according to their own rules. Emerging rapper and burgeoning businessman, Bless McFly epitomizes this mentality. Hailing from Newark, NJ, Bless McFly was always meant for the limelight. In person, he cuts a striking figure. He has a slender frame, distinct features, copious tattoos, and his haircascading

dreadlocks accentuated by buzzed sides. He has the type of hip, versatile look that could easily fit in a luxury editorial feature or a Dave Meyers-directed rap video. Growing up, Bless’ mother recognized his star quality early. She entered him into several junior talent shows to nurture and bolster his performing confidence. His first session in a recording studio came when he was just 15. At that age, all his rhymes paid homage to his hip-hop heroes like Tupac, Nas, Jay-z and DMX.

He moved to Atlanta for high school and quickly developed a name for himself as a fresh, young rapper with a highly attuned sense of style. It was around that time that his entrepreneurial hustle began to really take hold. With a generous loan from his grandmother, he launched his own clothing line called KRAWEN 418, and used his talent shows as a marketing tool for selling his apparel. The success of this venture sparked his appetite for future lucrative endeavors. But even with his myriad of business aspirations, his love for music never waned.

Fast-forward to 2012, and Bless had completely seized his destiny. Along with his partner G4, the dynamic duo had launched a multifaceted, Newarkbased business entity named Purple Label. Underneath this umbrella is a thriving video arcade and

community center called L.I.V.E on Broadway located in Newark, NJ. He also owned a pair of popular music studios where well-known rappers like Vado, Jim Jones, TravMBB and Smoke DZA have recorded. Ever on the quest for continuous expansion, he closed down the studios and upgraded to a 5,000 sq.ft, state- of-the-art facility in Bloomfield, NJ. Dubbed “Purple Penthouse. Managed by Bless and G4, the new location houses 3 modern recording studios, a spacious photography/ podcast studio, modern workspaces, and even a dance studio/event space. The final facet of this burgeoning empire is a record label, which features a roster of upcoming artists. For most, these notable accomplishments would be enough to take the foot off the pedal, but not for Bless. Even with these continued successes, there was still something major missing in his life. He still had a 31

R&B songstress Naya Shea makes music that not only showcases her sound, but connects her audience to a story. The singer, who categorizes herself as Neo Soul/R&B is steadily perfecting her craft and breaking out of her shell. The 21 year old New Jersey native says she's always known her talents were there, but was at first too shy to put her voice in the spotlight. Recently though, that mindset has completely changed. Inspired by other R&B storytellers and her family of talented musicians, Naya Shea has spent the last few years finding her confidence and owning her sound. Her EP "Love is the Sound" is a completely original project Naya Shea has curated herself. Every song

is a handwritten tale that tells a story only the way she can. Her soulfulness shines through in both her vocals and her lyrics. Her sound makes you feel love, connection, and comfort. Her passion and love for R&B music has been engrained in her since she was a child and is what keeps her going and creating. Listen to Naya's music and you can hear that she definitely has a voice that can't be taught or learned. It's safe to say Naya Shea has come a long way from shivering backstage and being too shy to sing, now, she says you have to beg her to stop. She plans to continue writing and collaborating this year and will undoubtedly keep us tuned in to everything Naya Shea.

Cam’ron). With your latest EP, Follow, what could listeners be able to see from you that they haven't in your previous work? a. This project I open up the most on the pitfalls of this journey, this quest. The project is beautiful, but it shows the nonbeautiful side of what it really feels like to pursue something. So, with that I think this project can relate to the most people. How do you get inspired for your visuals and photoshoots? Again, just like the music I am inspired by expressing myself.
