Explore our fantastic Learning Resource Centre (LRC) which is available to all students in the school. Learn about our use of Accelerated Reader, the annual Weald Book Awards, World Book Day events and amazing author talks. Lots of exciting activities to participate in plus a book fayre (card payment accepted).
Sixth Form College
Please come and talk to our Sixth Form staff. If you are interested in finding out more about the courses and opportunities offered at The Weald Sixth Form College, we will be holding our Open Evening Thursday 19 October 2023 and a further event in the summer term, 2024.

Geography (first floor)
B14 Come and meet our geography team and current students and see what geography at KS3 and KS4 can offer you There will be a range of activities to get involved in including our sustainable development goals interactive wall, food miles task and an opportunity to discover which Geography Superhero you can be!
Modern Languages (first floor)
B16 Immerse yourself in languages and meet some of our GCSE students to find out more about the language options available at The Weald. Take part in our interactive activities, explore other cultures and discover how learning a language can enrich your life and open doors for you in the future.
Religious Studies (first floor)
B13 How do Jews celebrate the new year? As we start a new school year come and find out and enjoy a traditional Jewish sweet treat.
Science (ground floor)
L7 & L8 Physics: View secret codes and messages under UV light See total internal reflection of light and view standing waves on string.
L9 & L10 Biology: See the sometimes horrible things that grow from microorganisms on Agar plates; watch a real life heart and lung dissection and also test what your food consists of.
L11 & L12 Chemistry: See the colours produced by different elements in flame tests; the reactions of metals and acids; how electricity can split up substances in electrolysis and how we can burn methane trapped inside bubbles.

Computer Science and Creative iMedia(first floor)
G15 See the Computer Science and Creative iMedia curriculum in action including computer hardware investigations, programming activities, graphics and website creation. Staff will be available to answer any questions about these exciting parts of the curriculum and progression through the Key Stages.
E BLOCK
Mathematics (first floor)
E4 & E5 ICT activities including Sparx Maths demonstrations, plus a chance to win a calculator

During the evening, do pay a visit to our main school cafeteria in E block to experience our catering provision with complimentary refreshments and "taster" samples of some of our typical menus. We use locally-sourced produce wherever possible.

How will I know how to make progress?
● Our teachers will check your understanding in each lesson
● Your work will be marked regularly; you will be told what is good about it and how to make it even better
● Key pieces of work will be used on a regular basis to assess how you are progressing
● A report will be sent home three times a year showing your parents and you whether you are “on track” and providing you with guidance about how to make progress
How will I be rewarded for doing well?
● House points are awarded for good work, trying hard and being a great member of Team Weald
● Extra house points are awarded for taking part in competitions and being part of a team
● Commendations on your reports reward you for sustained hard work and lead to extra house points
● Awards for sustained contribution to a team or club, for trying hard and for good attendance over a half term also lead to extra house points
● All house points lead to certificates, prizes and ultimately THE HOUSE CUP or a GOLD AWARD
How will I make friends?
● We will try to place you in a tutor group and learning group with someone you know
● On Welcome Day we introduce you to your tutor group and learning group before you even start here
● Your tutor group will help you make friends and get to know people across the whole school
● The quad offers you a place to meet all of Year 7
● You will meet different people in your lessons
● Joining new clubs and activities will introduce you to a range of different people
Who is there to help me?
● Your tutor has a small tutor group so that they can get to know you better
● Fellow students in your tutor group have already experienced the things you will be doing. They will be able to offer advice, mentor and help you
● Your Head of House does not teach and is able to make sure you are well supported
● Sixth Form students are available to mentor you
● Our Inclusion Department is well skilled at supporting learning needs
● We have a school counsellor, emotional literacy support assistants and family liaison officer all based on site if you need a bit of extra support
