Biodiversity & Deforestation

Introduction As a result of climate change, deforestation, land degradation, the pollution of water, soil and air, and the exploitation of wild species, biodiversity is under threat. Due to unsustainable human activities, we are losing the wealth of plants and animals like never before. More than a million species are currently at risk of extinction. At the same time, the global population of wild species has already fallen by 60% over the last 40 years. Not only is biodiversity essential to human and planetary well-being, but it is also a fundamental component of long-term business success. Companies rely on healthy ecosystem services as critical inputs. Therefore, we all need to consider the risks and opportunities of biodiversity loss and act to manage them.

Our position WDP recognises that through the development, management and operations of our properties, we can positively contribute to protecting and enhancing biodiversity and contribute to long-term sustainable development of our properties. We seek to address the drivers of deforestation and forest degradation and want to contribute not only to protecting existing forests with significant natural value, but also help to increase forest land.
