GHOSTS OF THE OLD YEAR
The Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony open the 2021-22 season with this exciting and diverse program. The Wind Symphony begins its portion with Paul Dukas’ Fanfare from La Peri, followed by Kimberly Archer’s energetic Common Threads and closing with Alfred Reed’s Second Suite for Band, “Latino Mexicano.” The Wind Ensemble will present Cindy McTee’s Notezart, Carlos Simon’s Sweet Chariot, the World Premiere of Learning to Stay by alumna Christina George, and close with James David’s compelling Ghosts of the Old Year.
The WCU Wind Ensemble is composed of 45 of the finest wind and percussion players at WCU. As a premier ensemble, the group represents WCU at conventions and performs in high schools throughout the region. Many news works have been commissioned by the Ensemble in recent years. Member is open to all students
