This ensemble performs twice a semester, once as a strings only ensemble, and once with a compliment of woodwinds, brass, and percussion. Guest faculty and outside soloists are often featured. Every spring, this ensemble serves also as the opera orchestra.

A yearly benefit concert for a cello scholarship organized by Dr. Ovidiu Marinescu and the cello ensemble. The late Tom Smith was an amateur cellist and a friend of the West Chester University who loaned musical instruments to deserving students.
