The Junior League of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Inc. reaches out to women of all races, religions, and national origins who demonstrate an interest and a commitment to voluntarism. The Junior League of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Inc. does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion or national origin.
The Junior League of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Inc. welcomes all women who value our Mission. We are committed to inclusive environments of diverse individuals, organizations and communities.
I began and ended my year as President of the Junior League of Oklahoma City emphasizing the importance of connection in our personal, professional and communal lives and the vital role this organization plays in facilitating connection. Research shows that individuals who invest time and effort into developing quality relationships with others are healthier and happier, and that those who engage in acts of kindness and service have lower levels of stress and anxiety.
Yet, in an age where technology allows us to be seemingly connected 24/7, surveys show people across the nation feel more disconnected, lonely and anxious than ever.
This, my friends, means the work we do in JLOC – not just for the community, but with each other, too – is as relevant as it ever was. As we build up our community, we are also empowering our fellow JLOC members and improving our own lives. JLOC remains the premier women’s training and service organization in the Oklahoma City metro because of the intentionality of our mission, our projects and our members.
Throughout the pages of the 2023-2024 League Link, you will find numerous examples of connection and empowerment facilitated through the Junior League. Together, we recorded 9,421.3 hours of service to our community for an estimated value of $351,519.34. Thank you for contributing to this phenomenal impact.
As we move closer to our centennial celebration in 2027-2028, we will both reflect on and amplify our impact. Upon approval of our centennial gifts to the community, benefitting Palomar and OU Children’s Hospital, at our May General Membership Meeting, I could not help but smile thinking of not only the members of our community who will benefit from this incredible investment, but the relationships that will be forged among JLOC Members as we engage in this project.
Membership in the Junior League is one of the best investments you can make in yourself and in your community. Never forget your JLOC experience is something you get to do.
It’s been my honor to serve as your President. I look forward to many more years of connection as a Sustaining Members.
With appreciation,

he Junior League of Oklahoma City hosts monthly General Membership Meetings throughout the League year to gather the Membership to share important information and complete necessary business. All meetings were held on the second Tuesday at Will Rogers Theater to provide consistency for Members. Each meeting kicks off with a social hour, creating natural opportunities for connection and fellowship. These meetings serve several purposes for Membership, including networking with fellow Members they may not get to see often, learning how our volunteers are serving community partners, hearing from dynamic keynote speakers, and receiving general League updates.
The first GMM of the 2023-2024 JLOC year was held in September. This meeting was packed with information and activities to engage and enrich League Members. Kicking off the first official meeting of the year, attendees were able to learn about the AJLI initiative of “Find the Good Day” and how JLOC planned to participate. Inspired by the League’s signature service project, Project EmpowHer, Members were encouraged to support this mission by bringing supplies to the GMM in preparation for a League-wide packaging party. A highlight of the meeting was an informative conversation with Shalynne Jackson, a certified Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Consultant and Trainer. She discussed with attendees how each Member could find the good in each other through

their differences. Attendees were able to submit questions for Shalynne prior to the meeting and Adrienne Nobles, 2023-2024 JLOC President, hosted the conversation with her on stage, sharing the questions and inquiries for discussion.
The second GMM of the League year was held in October. Historically, this meeting is the Mistletoe Market kickoff, giving Members the opportunity to learn about the League’s biggest fundraiser of the year. The Mistletoe Market Committee shared important information with attendees about what they could expect for the 30th Anniversary, including revealing the theme and promotional events occurring during Market. T-shirts had been available for pre-order and were picked up at this GMM. As an opportunity to get the word out in their neighborhoods, promotional yard signs were available for pick up to display in yards and places of business. To continue promoting Project EmpowHer, Members were encouraged to bring period supplies during the social hour for a chance to be entered into a raffle for exciting prizes. For the meeting’s keynote, JLOC hosted a panel of health and wellness professionals who shared ways to take care of oneself throughout all stages of life. Through this conversation, each Member had several takeaways from this very well-educated group of panelists.
The January General Membership Meeting featured the Member and Donor appreciation night. This evening gave the chance to celebrate the impact that Members and donors have on the Junior League of Oklahoma City. A nod to the history and influence League Members has, the theme of this meeting was “In Our JLOC Era”
inspired by Taylor Swift. The Membership was encouraged to dress in a ‘Swiftie’ inspired outfit to contribute to the special occasion atmosphere. From the decor to the opportunity to make friendship bracelets to the multiple ways that Members were honored with fun awards; this was surely a night to remember. At this meeting, the Membership ratified the selection of the Incoming Board of Directors for the 20242025 JLOC year by the elected Nominating Committee. In addition, through the Interest Group Fair during the social hour, attendees could sign up for the various Interest Groups hosted by fellow JLOC Members. Lastly, the meeting hosted an empowering presentation from Shannon Presti. During her keynote, she shared several time management and selfreflection techniques that could assist Members in being the best they could be.
A typical meeting for items of business, the April General Membership Meeting had a full agenda. With several items up for voting, the quorum was met, and all presented motions were passed. Active Members voted on the 2024-2025 Nominating Committee Slate presented on behalf of the current Nominating Committee. During the social hour, JLOC hosted a Community Placement Fair for current and incoming project managers to answer questions and share information about the various volunteer opportunities for the upcoming League year. Members were encouraged to attend the Community Placement Fair, so they are informed of the responsibilities and expectations of each project prior to submitting their top three choices for next year. As has become tradition, the Project EmpowHer committee collected menstrual products during the social hour to help support the efforts to end period poverty. The monthly keynote featured the Oklahoma Commission on the Status of Women (OCSW) Executive Director, Kitti Asberry. She spoke to attendees about the proactive and impactful work that the Commission is doing throughout the state, including a first look at the promotional video examining the issues with human trafficking. By highlighting such a serious issue for women, Members were able to recognize the importance of what OCSW does and is continuing to do to fight for the rights of all women in Oklahoma.
The General Membership Meetings of the Junior League of Oklahoma City serve several purposes and provide many benefits to Members. Attendance is always highly encouraged as these opportunities keep Members well-informed and engaged throughout the League year.

The Junior League of Oklahoma City’s 2023 Mistletoe Market marked the 30th anniversary of the metro’s premiere shopping event. In honor of Mistletoe Market’s pearl anniversary, this year’s committee added special pearl themed décor throughout the Market, including offering a commemorative pearl headband that many JLOC Members wore during their volunteer shifts.
With 118 merchants and 180 volunteers, JLOC raised $131,120 to help support the League’s mission, including leadership training and providing resources for its health-based community projects throughout the Oklahoma City community. In addition to the 540 volunteer hours from JLOC Member volunteers, the 2023 Mistletoe Market Committee itself spent more than 1,330 volunteer hours planning and coordinating this year’s event, ensuring the market would be a rousing success.
Outside of a diverse and exciting shopping experience, the Mistletoe Market Special Events Committee built on last year’s successes and expanded the schedule and scope of the programming, filling two different
event spaces with engaging and entertaining opportunities. Mistletoe Market kicked off the holiday shopping weekend with the annual Preview Party, giving 371 shoppers the first chance to explore the Market in search of perfect gifts for the approaching holiday season. While Thursday is often the most memorable event, special events continued throughout the weekend. On Friday, local children’s choirs filled the Market with Christmas carols, creating a bright and cheery tone as the backdrop to finding special holiday treats. Saturday, the annual Mistletoe Magic children’s event included fun crafts, an opportunity to listen to Santa read “Goodnight OKC,” and a chance to have their picture taken with Santa. Rounding out the weekend, Sunday Funday was once again a success. Attendees received special surprises and discounts from merchants and enjoyed bottomless mimosas while they shopped.
Wrapping up the 2023 Mistletoe Market, the League documented 3,923 total shoppers, in addition to the 371 shoppers who filled the room at the annual Preview Party.

The final General Membership Meeting of the 2023-2024 Junior League of Oklahoma City took place on Tuesday, May 14, 2024at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club. The closing of the League’s 96th year this event celebrated an empowering year of connection, service, and training. As the last chance to conduct formal business for the year, the agenda included voting on the proposed centennial gifts to Oklahoma City, recognition of Member milestones, accomplishments of the League year, and the transition of the Board of Directors and the “Passing of the Gavel” by former League presidents.
An exciting time to connect with fellow League Members before the summer season, the evening started with a social networking hour. In addition to socializing with friends, Members also had the chance to learn more about the committees available in the coming League year. During the Committee Fair, incoming appointed leaders hosted sign-ups at tables, allowing Members to ask questions and learn how the committees support the mission of JLOC. As is tradition, the current Provisional class was tasked with the theme and decorations for the GMM, showcasing how this “JLOC is a Work of Art.” Wanting to engage the Members present in a fun and creative way, a blank canvas and bright paint was available for every member in attendance to add a stroke to the painting. At the conclusion of the event, the canvas was framed and will be shared with the Membership in the future, a beautiful representation of the mark each Member leaves on the League. Having completed their Provisional year, the incoming class was presented to the Membership, officially graduating to Active member status. As a sign of solidarity and
ceremony, Provisional Members wore matching t-shirts showcasing the Work of Art theme.
Only four years away from the 100th anniversary of the Junior League of Oklahoma City, the Membership voted on the centennial gifts to Oklahoma City. Through careful deliberation and selection by the 100th Signature Project Development Committee the decision was made to contribute to both Palomar and the OU Children’s Hospital in honor of the centennial year.
Honoring their Member journey, Actives were recognized for reaching 5-, 10- and 15-year statuses in JLOC. As a recognition of their continued dedication, each of these members received tokens of appreciation and a personal thanks from the Membership Vice President, Tabitha Narvaiz. In addition to celebrating Active service, the League recognized the women who completed their Member service and elected to transition to Sustainer status. These women have served their community for several years and are now able to support the JLOC mission at the Sustainer level going forward. Each GMM, JLOC recognizes a standout Member with the STAR Award. For May, this honor was given to Stephanie Lee for her patience and assistance when delivering products to a community partner on behalf of Project EmpowHer.
JLOC was honored to host Mayor David Holt as the final keynote and special guest of the 2023-2024 League year. An ardent supporter of Junior League, he spoke to the Membership about the significant impact the League has on the Oklahoma City community. He expressed his pride in the League, encouraging us to continue empowering our Members to give back and make Oklahoma a better place. One of Mayor Holt’s favorite activities is to read “Goodnight OKC” to
Closing out the final GMM of the year, incoming President Kelli Hilgenfeld Porter shared her excitement to serve in this role in the following League year. each school in the Oklahoma City metro. Mayor Holt announced an exciting update about the new edition of “Goodnight OKC,” highlighting how the changes will better encompass the various communities within Oklahoma City.
Following Mayor Holt, Adrienne Nobles, 2023-2024 President, spoke to the membership about the many accomplishments achieved in the last year. Sharing her favorite moments, she praised the outgoing Board of Directors for helping to execute another great League year. As she came to each position, Adrienne shared special words of acknowledgement the woman who served in that role, bidding leaving members luck in their new roles, while welcoming the incoming Board Members on stage. Concluding the transition, Adrienne passed the gavel to Kelli Hilgenfeld Porter, who is stepping up as 2024-2025 President. As Kristin Van Nort was announced, Kelli presented the President’s medallion to Kristin Van Nort as the current President Elect and future 2025-2026 President.
Each year, it is tradition for the Past Presidents in attendance to line up for the “Passing of the Gavel.” From there, starting with the oldest Past President, each former leader will take the League gavel, sharing their name and the year they were President, then pass the gavel to the next leader. This historical activity is meaningful, inspiring and empowering for the membership to witness, as it honors the past and inspires the incoming President.
1. JLOC welcomed women from Provisional to Active Status. 2. Mayor David Holt gave thanks to Members for their dedication to the Oklahoma City community.
3. Adriene Nobles addressed JLOC Membership at her final meeting as President.

This year’s Whale Crew was committed, dedicated, enthusiastic, loyal and passionionate. The energy around the annual shopping event was simply infectious. And all the customers left with bright smiles and arms full of fantastic treasures. The success of this year’s event was truly a team effort as the Whale of a Sale Committee accumulated more than 425 hours while our 111 volunteers fulfilled 375 hours throughout Whale Week. This year, the Whale of a Sale Committee wanted to focus on improving the customer and volunteer experiences. Presentation was key—you never get a second chance to make a first impression. The Committee tweaked the layout to make it more user-friendly and eye-catching. A Remarkable Shop favorite was reintroduced by sizing and color coding the clothing racks using the ROYGBIV system (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet). As Whale of a Sale Sustaining Advisor, Piper Wiewel enacted a unique vision for staging, which ended up being a huge hit. Throughout the week, both customers
and volunteers complimented the updated organization and display methods. Whale of a Sale will forever hold a special piece of my heart as it reminds me so much of my early days at the Remarkable Shop. Witnessing firsthand JLOC’s immediate impact on our community through our consignment/thrift store was aweinspiring. WOAS carries on this tradition as it has the same effect on our community, and allows volunteers to interact with the public, Members, community partners and even offers the chance to meet potential new partners.
It has been my honor to serve on this Committee for the past four years. Our Whale Crew raises the bar every year from a typical garage sale to an upscale event, complete with table linens and aprons where treasures are staged to perfection! I am proud of the Crew’s accomplishments as we have set a strong foundation for years to come. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for WOAS as it will continue to thrive!

international Find the Good Day – created by The Association of Junior Leagues International – is dedicated to finding the good in yourself, your community, and the world around you. On September 14, 2023, Junior Leagues across the country hosted events and raised awareness for various community service projects.
Dedicated to celebrating community success, this celebration will be commemorated annually as League organizations continue to multiply their impact on others.
The intention behind Find the Good Day is to make a difference in your community in a meaningful way that also encourages female leadership and to build strong relationships with other league members.
The Junior League of Oklahoma City joined in this day of good by promoting Project EmpowHer, the League’s signature project that helps provide pads, tampons, and
other feminine hygiene products to menstruators in the community.
For the inaugural International Find the Good Day, JLOC Members came together to pack 354 bags of pads, 12 bags of liners, and 176 bags of tampons. That’s 5,420 period products that will be distributed to community members who may be experiencing Period Poverty.
Additionally, through this event, JLOC was able to share this mission with other Junior League organizations, informing them about the issue of period poverty. Along with sharing JLOC’s project, Members were able to learn about the special interest projects and impacts from other Leagues, uniting in a love of community service.
This event marked a unique opportunity to find the good in fellow League Members, local communities, and community service initiatives. JLOC is eager to recognize this yearly occasion and witness the good Members create for others in the future!

JLOC Members help provide a break from the many stressors occurring in the residents’ lives and are there to bring support and comfort in the form of snacks, crafts, parties at various times of the year, and wellness activities that promote self-care. allowed Junior League to give fundamental dignity to members of the unhoused community and their furry friends so they can receive much needed services from City Care and other community agencies. By offering this service, City Care clients did not have to worry about their beloved pets, and League Members helped create a smooth process for the pet boarding facility, which helps take one thing off the plate of City Care staff. This project was led by Jamie Benda.
The Wellness for Life project met with seniors in the community to help foster a sense of belonging through recreational group activities that helped create relationships. Junior League Members socialized with Concordia residents, along with preparing activities that helped the seniors stay active, connected, and engaged with others. Some of these projects included bingo, trivia, puzzles, and crafts. This year, Extreme Animals came to Concordia and residents were able to hold and interact with animals they may have not seen before, such as lemurs, kangaroos and more. Each of these activities were designed to promote the mental, physical, and emotional health of Concordia residents. Many residents stated how much they looked forward to the Junior League’s visits, and that Members helped to brighten their week with fun and socialization! Volunteers for this project look forward to developing these relationships now and in the future, further impacting the lives of these seniors. Wellness for Life was led by Kelsey Henry.
The Supporting Women with ReMerge placement allowed Junior League Members to partner with the Oklahoma City nonprofit, ReMerge, which helps women who are transitioning out of incarceration find their footing again. JLOC volunteers worked oneon-one with ReMerge clients who are seeking to complete their GED using the HiSET Test Review booklet by sharing testing strategies. Once the client has taken the HiSET (GED),
volunteers can follow up with the client to celebrate their success or review and improve on areas of weaknesses. This program allowed Members to help fully invest in the lives of the ReMerge women and help see them through to a bright future. JLOC Members were able to build relationships with the women and provide tutoring and professional advice for their next steps. This project was led by Kyla Smith.
The Food and Fun at PIVOT program helped JLOC Members engage with teens and young adults in the PIVOT program. Volunteers coordinated meals and activities for PIVOT residents, either at the PIVOT site, or around the metro area. JLOC volunteers invested themselves into this program, leaving a lasting impression on these young adults and creating healthy relationships where they can serve as mentors. In addition, the volunteers provided donations to the tiny homes project, along with opportunities to teach life skills such as cooking, future planning, and socialization. Fun was had by all during events and outings such as bowling, and more. The residents and Members built lasting bonds and positive experiences with one another that will carry on long after the placement ended. This project was led by Allie Cox.

The Kids on Track placement worked with the Boys and Girls Club of Oklahoma City to create a love for wellness and fitness among children through the after-school track program. Members built relationships with elementary school students helping them prepare for the Kids Marathon associated with the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon. JLOC Members serve as track coaches, providing
snacks, encouragement and running advice to the kids as they hopefully learned that exercise can be fun and recreational. At the end of Kids on Track, each participant receives a new pair of running shoes, and the team runs the one-mile race together, encouraging one another as they each cross the finish line! This project was led by Katherine Vanlandingham and Kelsey Shaver.
Kids in the Kitchen/Top Chef placement worked with a cohort of students from the Boys and Girls Club of Oklahoma City. JLOC
Members worked to foster a love of wellness and cooking in the participants by teaching the students a new dish each week. During these lessons, the children would also learn about nutrition and healthy eating options. As most know, proper nutrition is key to living a healthy life, and it’s important that this knowledge starts in childhood and continues into adulthood. Through this placement, JLOC Members interacted with students and helped teach them valuable insights into their own health by expanding their knowledge of culinary options available along with building confidence and relationship skills. This project was led by McKenzie Melton and Sydney Vaverka.

Junior League of Oklahoma City Members continue to work tirelessly to support their signature community project, Project EmpowHer. In ongoing efforts to help end period poverty, JLOC has distributed more than 50,000 period products including pads, tampons, liners and period panties to partners since July 2023. There are now more than 36 community partners receiving items from Project EmpowHer. Project EmpowHer Committee Members were busy this year. In addition to hosting stand-alone events like a movie night in the fall and the annual women’s health panel in the spring, Project EmpowHer had a presence at community events such as Mistletoe Market, the OKC Farmer’s Market and campus events at UCO. Additionally, Committee Members pitched in when groups such as OG&E and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. hosted a fun run and period product donation drive and packing party to mark International Women’s Day. Attendees at this event learned about Project EmpowHer and how community and business partners can genuinely make an impact to end period poverty in Oklahoma City.
Outside of these community events, several groups got involved with Project EmpowHer this year by hosting packing parties. As a testament to the impact Project EmpowHer has, in addition to Members and Provisionals hosting packing parties, local sorority alumni groups, student organizations, a church and even the US Coast Guard pitched in to help the League ensure products are readily available when partners are in need.
Throughout the League year, Members have been incredibly generous, bringing products to GMMs and helping to keep the closet stocked. Project EmpowHer received large shipments of period panties and pads at a discounted rate, ensuring JLOC can provide those items for the foreseeable future.
Project EmpowHer is excited to have welcomed a new community partner this year in Oklahoma City Community College. Through this relationship, period products are now accessible in restrooms across their campus. Staff at the college commented that they were surprised how often the restrooms needed to be restocked with supplies, opening their eyes to a significant need on

their campus. They have expressed their great appreciation for JLOC’s support in meeting that need.
In early May, Project EmpowHer partnered with the State Chamber of Commerce to help support Oklahomans impacted by tornadoes. Understanding the tragedy that many families experienced, JLOC was able supply period products to the Chamber for distribution in areas affected such as Sulphur and Marietta.
Throughout the League year, the energetic committee found ways to engage with Members and the community, expanding outreach efforts in unique and creative ways. This allowed Project EmpowHer to not only engage more partners and distribute more products, but also helped raise awareness about period poverty and JLOC’s efforts to help end it. Project EmpowHer continues to make an impressive impact on the community, and JLOC is excited to see this signature project continue to grow.

The Junior League of Oklahoma City’s Leadership Institute provides a valuable opportunity for JLOC Members. Led by Emily Burris, participants have the chance to learn from subject matter experts about negotiation topics applicable to all facets of life. For the third year in the row, the Leadership Institute followed the book Everything is Negotiable: The Five Tactics to Get What You Want in Life, Love and Work by Dr. Megan Myers Morgan. With each topic acting as its own springboard, the book and the Leadership Institute encouraged participants to develop their negotiation skills in both personal and professional environments.
Congratulations to the Members who completed the Leadership Institute during the 2023-2024 League year.

What are your goals as President? I want to foster teamwork and collaboration among our board members. We have an incredible group of women serving on the Board, and it is important to me that I support them as they guide their councils and committees. It is my priority that the JLOC Board focuses on our organization’s mission and the Board makes the best decisions for the longevity of JLOC.
What JLOC or life accomplishment are you most proud of? I am proud of my time as PAT Chair because I had the opportunity to lead the provisional class, teach them about all things JLOC and foster new relationships. The provisional year is always exciting because you are meeting new people and learning about all of the trainings, events and opportunities the league has to offer.
Kristin Van Nort President-Elect
Active Member since 2016
What do you hope to contribute to JLOC and the wider OKC community through your leadership role? I’m hoping to find more ways to share JLOC’s story. We have incredible members doing incredible work and
that should be celebrated!
What do you love most about Oklahoma City? I love how Oklahoma City is so generous. I’ve worked my entire career in the nonprofit sector and am constantly amazed at how much and how generously this community shows up for those in need - be it a disaster, a fundraiser or a volunteer opportunity. We care for each other in this community.
Cameron Pepper
Administrative Vice President
Active Member since 2018
What do you love most about Oklahoma City?
Where to begin... the food, the diversity, the community, the opportunities, the vast landscapes. I could go on and on, but Oklahoma City is a place that I call home and I couldn’t feel happier to do so.
Favorite Quote: “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” —Ferris Bueller
Ashley Rivers Bylaws Chair

What do you hope to contribute to the JLOC and the wider OKC community through your leadership role? I hope to share my passion for parliamentary procedure in a way that inspires others to learn more. It may have a stuffy reputation, but when
done well, it enables diverse, nuanced and productive conversations by ensuring that multiple viewpoints can be heard and explored.
Favorite Book(s): Oh, I could never pick just one... Right now, I’m reading a lot of books about fermentation. I’m on the quest to perfect my home-brewed kombucha and home-fermented sauerkraut.
Kendall Morgan Hammack
Communications Vice President Active Member since 2019
What do you hope to accomplish during your tenure as a Board Member? My goal is to use JLOC’s internal and external platforms to share the good work we are doing in the community. Spreading the why behind JLOC is very important in sustaining the future of our League through fundraising, community support and growing our membership.
Favorite Book(s): Anything written by Kate Quinn or Kristen Hannah. I love how they incorporate history into their storytelling.
Lindsay Lucas
Community Vice President Active Member since 2018
Why did you join JLOC? I joined the League because I was looking for a way to volunteer and get more involved in the OKC community. I especially loved all of the community partners the JLOC served. It has also
been a huge benefit to meet so many new friends during my time in the League. What do you love most about Oklahoma City? It is hard to pick one thing I like about OKC, but I think the initiatives and investments the city has undertaken in the past 20 years have done wonderful things to bring the city into the national spotlight.
Education & Development Vice President Active Member since 2018
What do you hope to contribute to JLOC and the wider OKC community through your leadership role? I hope to increase member engagement by being a leader that is visible, encouraging and intentional about my interactions with the JLOC membership.
What JLOC or life accomplishment are you most proud of? The life accomplishment that I am most proud of is being able to serve as the Legal Guardian of my three nephews for almost five years. I raised three young boys and still managed to serve JLOC and my community in the process. Having no children of my own, I learned lots of life lessons along the way—and for that I am grateful.
Sarah Miller Finance Vice President
Active Member since 2014
Why did you join JLOC? I joined JLOC to make personal
connections with like-minded women who were interested in volunteering across OKC. What are your goals for your tenure as a Board Member? My goals as Finance VP (again) are to be strategic in our spending as we plan for our 100th Anniversary; ensuring that JLOC will have a long-lasting impact on the OKC community for another 100 years.
Anastasia Svec

I want to work with the ladies on my Council to make our fundraising events and initiatives more successful than ever to raise more funds for our community projects. What JLOC or life accomplishment are you most proud of? My biggest accomplishment has been earning my Master’s Degree at Oklahoma City University and starting my own retail business. I love using my creativity to pick products for my store.
Membership Vice President
Active Member since 2016
What are your goals for your tenure as a Board Member? I hope my membership team completes this year feeling
like they made an impact and learned skills along the way that will serve them personally, professionally, and within JLOC. I also hope members feel comfortable communicating with me or their leaders about their experiences - positive or negative. I truly believe communication will allow us to grow and be a better community for our members, and I hope to be a listening ear for those who need it. What has been your favorite placement with JLOC? I loved being a PAT Advisor! Having the opportunity to be a major part of our future members’ experience is something I will treasure forever. There is nothing more exciting than watching the women you helped navigate their provisional year grow within the League, taking on
leadership roles or being recognized for the work they have done in the community.

What is your current placement? This year, I am placed with Food and Fun at PIVOT. When and why did you join the Junior League? I am a part of the 2019-2020 Provisional Class. Growing up, I witnessed my mother’s dedication to volunteering and serving the community. When I reached the age where I could contribute, I found myself “voluntold” to follow in her footsteps. As a teen, I wasn’t exactly thrilled about it, but as an adult, I realized I missed that sense of giving back. At the time, I was teaching at the same school as Natasha Seymour. At the onset of her second active year, she became my

You will find your friends and your place. And if you still aren’t connecting, reach out to someone in Leadership, your MPR, or me! Sustainers had a fruitful year, from nominating one another for Legacy & Legends to celebrating with social gatherings.
The Membership Council hosted a well-attended Legacy & Legends event at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club, honoring Christy Coyle as Sustainer of the Year and Sue Ann Hyde with the Mary Baker Rumsey Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Sustainer Engagement committee, co-chaired by Margo Ward and Kathryn Wilson Wheeler, hosted a successful array of local events for JLOC Sustainers to enjoy while supporting community attractions and local businesses.
Kicking the season off with “Garden Gals,” Sustainers went on a private tour of the newly opened Inasmuch Foundation Crystal Bridge Conservatory followed by a happy hour at Mahogany Prime Steakhouse in Downtown OKC on September 26th. Attendees enjoyed the exclusive event after a nearly two-year closure and $11 million renovation.
October featured the “Party
at the OKC Zoo…WA-HOO!” event for Sustainers. The affair offered a private tour led by Sustainers Mandy Heaps and Kristi Leonard of Expedition Africa, the Oklahoma City Zoo’s most ambitious project in its 120-year history. Following the tour, Sustainers were offered a glimpse inside the newly renovated Pachyderm Building and toasted to both fellow Sustainers and the zoo as a long-time JLOC community partner.
The Sustainer Spring Soiree was hosted by Sustainer Kathryn Wilson Wheeler in her lovely Nichols Hills home. The season kick-off offered a tasting station by What’s Cooking and cocktails by the infamous Naser of Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club. It was a beautiful evening of mingling and Junior League fellowship.
“Succulent Success” was the bookend event to close the Junior League year in May. Paige Wilson of Orchid & Olive taught a hands-on floral arrangement class where Sustainers were able to build their own arrangements while enjoying light bites and wine.

The DEIB Committee met for the second year. One of the largest accomplishments of the Committee was the creation and distribution of the first Annual Voluntary Demographic Assessment to the JLOC Membership. 174 Members completed the survey, including
99 Actives, 54 Sustainers, and 21 Provisionals. The Assessment provided the League information regarding our Members and provided a baseline for future assessment.
At each meeting, the Committee had great discussion and ideas on
how to incorporate DEIB initiatives throughout our League. The results of the Annual Voluntary Demographic Assessment were distributed appropriately through Councils and Committees to ensure that the information is used when making decisions and future plans.
