Hello ! I am a recent graduate at the University of Melbourne. I have always wanted to design buildings that are thoughtful, sensitive and aren’t shy to be a little playful and bold. I am looking for my next adventure to not only expand my knowledge of architecture and construction design but also research strategies, design thinking and design process.

thesis project / auckland , new zealand civic project A museum project that studies the relationship between architecture and its context. To study the underlying forces within a post colonial city, Auckland and how it faces ongoing changes of biculturalism and multiculturalism.

demographic mapping and growth in ethnic diversity over time changing sources of migration The project explores biculturalism and multiculturalism within the context of Auckland. Through the study of the city to discover how its natural landscape has drastically transformed and the result of of colonisation due to different relationships towards the natural landscape - where the intention was to “transform the landscape and institutions of New Zealand into something resembling the emerald paddocks and parliamentary system of Great Britain”. The results is a cityscape that echoes the conflicts of its history.

concept diagrams The notion of country, dwelling place, homeland is formed by the relationship with our surroundings, our ‘environments’ and as patterns of migration become more diverse and frequently informs how cities are shaped. Once we have a sense of place and perceive ourselves being part of the world, we begin to create a division between it and ourselves and thus imposing our visions of what the landscape should be.

Culture and the concepts of place are in fact inseparable, yet people (and ideologies) are often left out of art about land and landscape.

Turangawaewae, is an exploration of architecture as a marker in histories spatial timeline, of Auckland’s past as a post-colonial city but also a vision towards the future, of a city that has a unifies social identity.

In 1840’s British colonised and had visions to transform the waterfront, landscape and institutions into something resembling the

“emerald paddocks and parliamentary system of Great Britain”. The land reclamation that occurred throughout the course of a century significantly impacted the coastline from rocky cliffs , sandy beaches and mudflats into modern wharfs.

As we continue to reconstruct our landscape, architecture continues to retains “objectivated cultural capital”, Its value lies dormant and in permanent potential. Potential to represent history, potential to represent inhabitants and potential transformed to tell another history of it’s past.

Through the study of settlers and Auckland’s waterfront to reveal a more holistic understanding of the different relationship, process, strategies settlers had and have to their landscape and how to create architecture that’s inclusive and empathetic and whether there are opportunities to investigate how architecture as a non-verbal communication tool is capable of documenting and expressing cultural memory.

Melbourne Innovation District A rooftop extension project proposing an Innovation Centre for the Melbourne Innovation District (MID) on the existing Old Royal Women’s Hospital Carpark.

Through mimicking the biological system of symbiotic mutualism, this proposed skin system generates a unique form and aesthetic that is specific to the brief ’s client and function.

Symbiosis - in Biology, this refers to a ‘close, longterm interaction between two different species’. In Architecture, this concept is likened to the interaction and relationship between the built environment and its users.

Through looking into nature enables us to reference a successful relationship between two organisms that live in symbiosis, mutually benefiting each other. As a result, the process of seed dispersal demonstrates

a complex yet successful relationship between Flora and Fauna. Similar cues can be analysed and applied to further encourage the relationship between human and Architecture whilst engaging the natural environment.
