nization. “They worked hard to create this community. So it was pretty easy for us to decide that the Lutheran Home was for us,” Kathy Duke, chairperson of the she said. The second phase removed an age old structure that served for many years as the organization’s front door. As a result of changing codes and regulations, the building had to be demolished. In the third and final phase, Main Street replaced the original structure with a new front door. Elva Thuesen is pleased to see the Main Street become a reality. She recalls 55 years ago, when a group of seven Lutheran congregations came together to make the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home a reality.
