NewAldaya Lifescapes builds on promise By ANNIE VANDER WERFF For the Courier
CEDAR FALLS — NewAldaya Lifescapes, corporately known as the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, opened on July 5. On that day, says executive director Millisa Tierney, “there must have been a rainbow arched directly over NewAldaya Lifescapes. The promise we made to our residents and community has now become a shining reality.” Main Street, a 14,000-square-foot Lifestyles Center, has excited residents. Freda Lovejoy, a longtime resident, says it is “exactly what we needed.” The center adds a social element to residents’ lives, offering a cafe, pub, salon and spa, performing arts center, general store, wellness center and more. It’s a place where friends meet, new acquaintances are made and old
friendships are renewed. “Several people have commented on how nice it is to ‘get away’ on Main Street. You should see how their faces light up, It’s just such a nice, pleasant atmosphere,” said Lovejoy. The new facility shows attention to detail, including architectural details and design work and high, vaulted ceilings painted like the sky. With the face of aging changing by the day, Tierney says, “we have to create an environment that says, ‘You’ll live better,’ and it does. We can’t thank our donors, contractors, subcontractors and partners enough.
