GIL BRUVEL Australian, b.1959

Gil Bruvel’s artistic journey began early on in his life as the son of a renowned cabinetmaker. Growing in both age and skill, Bruvel focused on his desire to express himself and his own experiences. Bruvel’s creative intuition is advanced with a combination of modern and classical techniques that give his art features of striking precision. While elements of surrealism have been present in his works throughout his career, Bruvel’s most recent works play with the distortion of realities, duality, and multiple perspectives. His most notable series “Bending The Lines” transforms thousands of wooden shafts into stunning depictions of the human face. The pixelated outlines mimic our complex neural pathways, while his use of gradient color reinforces our minds’ interconnectedness. The wood is charred to show the impact of natural phenomena on the physical form and its inherently transient nature. Bruvel was born in Australia, but raised in the South of France. He currently resides in Wimberley, Texas. Represented by a host of galleries worldwide, Bruvel exhibits extensively and is the recipient of numerous awards

NICHOLAS BYRNE British, b. 1979

Nicholas Byrne’s paintings combine abstract and figurative elements with a strong sensibility for color and formal harmony. A key part of Byrne’s work is his interest in symbols and forms, with the recurrence of fan-like motifs and geometric shapes, which the artist overlays with areas of color rendered in different textures. His canvases often reveal a personal symbolism, inherited from modernist performances, and have been compared to the translucent work of the 19th-century Swedish clairvoyant painter and mystic Hilma af Klint (1862–1944). Byrne graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2005 and since has exhibited his work internationally. Byrne lives and works in London.

Gary Dorsey is a multifaceted artist who invites viewers to delve into complex narratives, challenging them to question and reflect upon societal norms and personal experiences. Dorsey draws his influence from vintage movies and art, creating a blend of classical and pop art styles. Having spent the last two decades in Austin, Dorsey has become deeply intertwined with the city’s rich musical heritage. His passion for the arts led him to collaborate with renowned Austin musician and international record labels, where he played a pivotal role in designing visually captivating album covers and interactive art. While building notable beverage brands in Austin — such as Deep Eddy Vodka, Dulce Vida Tequila, Waterloo Sparkling Water, and Canteen Spirits — Dorsey recognized the importance of branding and storytelling in his artistic practice. This understanding fueled their creativity, allowing him to craft compelling narratives and concepts within their artwork. Dorsey’s ability to merge commercial sensibilities with artistic integrity sets him apart and lends a unique depth to his creations. Though rooted in Austin, Dorsey’s artistic reach extends far beyond the city limits. His work has been showcased in New York City, Japan, and Dubai, among others. JAMES GORTNER American

In James Gortner’s paintings, his personal conflicts, moods, and dreams combine with other people’s stories and magical myths of the past and present to create new myths. Gortner incorporates reclaimed wood and sustainable materials, as well as paints on layers of reclaimed artist’s paintings into his paintings, adding physical texture and tension to enhance the narrative, or abstract the storytelling at play. Gortner’s singular identity as an artist is rooted in his hybrid of spiritual practices, artistic influences, and his unlimited technical freedom as a painter. His points of reference range from largescale History Painting and Contemporary Abstraction, to experiential painting and conceptual art. Gortner received his B.A. from Hawaii Pacific University and his MFA from Columbia University. Gortner’s work has been exhibited across the United States and in Germany. Abstract painter Cody Hooper grew up in North Texas and now lives and works in Austin, Texas. His passion for art began at a young age and at just 11 years old Hooper was given the opportunity to study under Southwest Watercolor artist Barbara Hughes for five years. This experience set his foundation as an artist throughout his early years as he focused primarily on realism and complex layering techniques, creating a method that he still practices today. Hooper moved forward experimenting with abstraction in various mediums, pushing himself to expand his horizons and personal expression, and subsequently began to flourish as a professional painter. Hooper remains deeply interested in the effects of color, texture, and the emotional response of strong composition and design. From museum-quality custom sealed wood panels, to his luxurious finishes with every detail recognized, Hooper's work today is a bold mix of styles, ranging from sleek and contemporary to weathered and organic.

ALEX HUBBARD American, b. 1975

Alex Hubbard records himself assembling, manipulating, and destroying everyday objects, tightly framed and shot from above to form a painterly image. In his 2007 series "The Collapse of the Expanded Field," he arranges, smashes, spray-paints, and clears away a vase of flowers. Referencing Roman Signer and Peter Fischli & David Weiss in its use of slapstick and performative action, Hubbard’s emphasis on materiality also recalls Hans Namuth's films of Jackson Pollock at work. In the live Annotated Plans for an Evacuation performance at the Whitney (2010), the artist continuously altered a used car.

KATHERINE HOUSTON American

Katherine Houston uses reverse painting to create abstract and bold motifs that explore the idea of infinite space. Her works often start with a color idea before evolving into compositions that feature color as the primary subject. Working primarily with plexiglass, Houston applies layers of paint to the back of each panel before turning the plexiglass over to see the totality of what she has created, “a beautiful, aesthetic interpretation of how the colors speak to me.” Houston's studies have included institutions such as The University of Houston, Glassell School of Art, The Art League, and Hudson River Valley Art. She has also studied privately with a number of renowned artists, such as Will Clem, Ruth Munson, Polly Liu, Gary Hernandez, Skip Lawrence, Arthur Turner, Gael Staack and Quang Ho. JUAN MEJÍA Colombian, b.1965

The work of Colombian artist and architect Juan Mejía occupies the terrain between intention and form. Working in a variety of media, from the plasticine material Sintra to rusted bronze, Mejía’s sculptures are starkly minimal while refusing the coldness that often typifies this genre. After studying architecture in his hometown of Medellin, Mejía traveled internationally and undertook studies in Vienna, Rotterdam, and Berlin. In addition to their international cultural background, the artist’s works share a close relationship with his career in architecture, which deepens their relationship with form, geometry, and the city.

ALBERTO MURILLO Spanish, b. 1974

Alberto Murillo is a self-taught painter who began his career in interior design. Murillo identifies with the tradition of Abstract Expressionism, though he also cites the influences of Andy Warhol and Edward Hopper in his paintings. Though the imagery and motifs in his work have varied over time, Murillo has consistently worked with variations on a single technique. Working on a flat surface, he pours acrylic or polymer emulsion onto board, which he manipulates as though “they are liquid skins that can be pulled, pushed,” before covering the composition with a resin coating. Murillo’s compositions are inspired by the architecture and moods of Spain and Latin America. Murillo’s abstract fields of color evoke the memory of places, from calming seascapes to the vibrant maelstrom of cities. His artwork has been exhibited and celebrated across the United States, as well as Europe. Murillo’s art is featured in a numbe rof selected private and public collections, including: The Givenchy Family Collection, Coca-Cola, Colliers International, Holland & Knight, Wells Fargo, and Bristol Myers

BLEK LE RAT French, b. 1951

Blek Le Rat, born Xavier Prou in Boulogne-Billancourt, Paris, was one of the very first graffiti artists in Paris and has been described as the “Father of Stencil Graffiti” Blek was first introduced to graffiti during a trip to New York City in 1971 where he was inspired to bring the style back to Paris, adapting the stencil as a more fitting technique for French architecture. He is best known for stenciling a giant graphic image of a rat all over Paris in the early 1980s, which to him symbolized both freedom and the dissemination of art through the city as if it were the plague. Blek, who has influenced generations of urban artists around the world, boasts a subtle social commitment and considers his images as a gift he gives to the city. His works often represent solitary individuals that can be encountered in the urban space–women, children, the elderly, and a diverse range of contemporary characters. In a desire to bring the people of the city closer to art, he quotes the great classics such as Caravaggio, Michelangelo, and Leonardo da Vinci. “I would like to bring the characters out of museums to return them to the people of the city.” His street art has appeared in cities across the world, and he has exhibited in New York, London, Los Angeles, Melbourne, and beyond.

HUNT SLONEM American, b. 1951

Artist and collector Hunt Slonem is best known for huge Neo-Expressionist oil paintings populated with rows of birds, bunnies, and butterflies, which he renders in thick, lavishly colored brushstrokes. Taking his cues from Andy Warhol’s Pop art seriality, the artist uses repetition as a form of creative meditation which unlocks subconscious sentiment. The son of a naval officer, Slonem honed his craft at Tulane University in New Orleans and, later, at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, where he was exposed to artists including Alice Neel and Alex Katz. Today, his work can be found in the collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Guggenheim Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Bahrain National Museum, and the Guilin Art Museum, among other institutions. RAMON VILANOVA Spanish, b. 1947

Acclaimed landscape painter, Ramon Vilanova works on original oil paintings and finds inspiration in Spain's exuberant natural surroundings. Vilanova works exclusively plein air in order to capture the essence of his lush landscapes the way that he experiences them in the moment. The artist was born, raised and continues to live and create in the idyllic surroundings of rural Catalunya, north of Barcelona in Spain. This background gives Vilanova a remarkable, intuitive, and emotional understanding of color which he depicts using the bold, expressive strokes of a palette knife. Vilanova has exhibited worldwide and his works can be found in permanent collections throughout Europe and the US including Palau Meca, Barcelona, Museum of Chartres, France, Museum of Taunusstein, Germany, and the Botanic Museum, Chicago.

KEHINDE WILEY American, b. 1977

Kehinde Wiley restages classical portraits and sculptures, replacing historical white subjects with contemporary subjects of color. His lush, narratively rich canvases draw on textile patterns and the compositional tenets of Old Masters such as Peter Paul Rubens and Jacques-Louis David. Embracing ornate decorative elements, Wiley dignifies his subjects and subverts the whiteness that has long dominated Western art history. The artist received his MFA from Yale in 2001 and has exhibited in New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Berlin, and Milan, among other cities. His work belongs in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, and the Nasher Museum of Art, among many others, and his paintings have sold for six figures on the secondary market. In 2018, Wiley painted Barack Obama’s presidential portrait. In 2019, he launched the Black Rock Residency program in Senegal, which fosters younger artists’ careers and Africa’s broader art ecosystem.
