The WCA has been an important community partner for more than 114 years. Originally started as the YWCA by nine pioneering women, it offered safe housing for women drawn from rural areas to Boise for work. Building on this foundation, the WCA is focused on a core mission of providing safety, healing and freedom from domestic abuse and sexual assault.
The WCA operates a 24-hour hotline, two safe shelters and programs for clients, including professional counseling, child play therapy, support groups, safety planning, case management, licensed childcare and financial empowerment programming.
Through the court advocacy program, the WCA provides assistance to petitioners seeking protection orders and court accompaniment to proceedings. The WCA’s client advocates provide crisis intervention, advocacy and support.
Education and outreach is offered through school prevention programming, community presentations and 35-minute WCA virtual Mission Tours in which participants learn about the prevalence of domestic abuse and sexual assault, and ways to get involved. The WCA has a very active volunteer program, with one-time and ongoing opportunities for individuals and groups.
As a 501(c)(3) organization, the WCA relies on grants from federal, state and local agencies, and the generosity of individual donors and corporate partners to provide essential funds and in-kind donations. With an annual operating budget of more than $4 million, 92% of all funding goes directly to client services.

Welcome to this year’s gathering in celebration of YOU, our 2025 TWINs. As you join an elite group of over 1,350 leaders representing a wide range of industries and careers, know that you have been singled out by your organizations because of your dedication and leadership. You serve as an inspiration to others within your organizations and throughout your community, serving as encouragement for other women as you pave the way!
As we celebrate the 2025 TWINs, we also celebrate the organizations who recognize and empower female leaders while at the same time supporting the work of the WCA. Unique in its format, this 32nd year of the TWIN awards demonstrates just how important this celebration is to our corporate partners. Our Corporate Pillars recognize the importance of celebrating their female leaders while also supporting the work the WCA does to provide “safety, healing and freedom from domestic abuse and sexual assault.”
On behalf of the WCA Board of Directors, we congratulate this year’s honorees and thank the Corporate Pillars who continue to support the WCA. Your contributions are some of the reasons we can say to our community: We Hear You, We Believe You, We Are Here. You have allowed many in our community to heal from trauma, break the cycle of abuse and create a healthy life for themselves and their children. The need for our services continues to increase as our community grows and so on behalf of all those seeking our services – we are grateful!
And to this year’s TWINs, we appreciate the opportunity we have had to get to know you and celebrate you! We welcome each of you into the sisterhood of “Forever TWINS” and challenge you to contribute in a way of your choosing to the important work that the WCA does for our community.

As a Corporate Pillar, you become an integral partner of the WCA’s vision to foster a community where individuals thrive in safe, healthy relationships. There are many benefits associated with the WCA’s support program, including participation in signature events, such as the TWIN Awards.
Take a proactive approach and provide your employees with the opportunity to learn more about the resources the WCA provides.
For more information about our Corporate Pillars Program, contact us at philanthropy@wcaboise.org or visit the Corporate Pillar web page at https://wcaboise.org/give-support/corporate-pillars/
Last fiscal year alone, our Corporate Pillars generously donated over $300,000 in Monetary funds and In-Kind support to the WCA. This group of over 60 businesses and organizations truly embodies what it means to be a community and a caring neighbor. Our Corporate Pillars not only donate financially, but they also play an important role in programs like our Back to School and Holiday sponsorships, which are amazing ways to support in-kind needs for our clients.
Our informative and educational presentations also afford Corporate Pillars the opportunity to support the WCA and the vital work we do in the areas of domestic abuse and sexual assault whilst educating employees about our services. Group volunteering opportunities exist which allow organizations to give back in meaningful ways outside of fiscal contributions.
As a result of all the amazing support the WCA receives from Corporate Pillars, we are able to widen our network of free services to all those in need, no matter their identity. We are able to provide resources internally through educational presentations and materials to all Corporate Pillars so that their employees are informed and empowered to seek help should they need it.
The WCA is truly grateful for all the businesses and organizations that support our mission of safety, healing and freedom from domestic abuse and sexual assault. From us to all the TWIN honorees, nominating companies and attendees, thank you for all you do to support the WCA.
“The
goals of the Corporate Pillar program are threefold: Awareness for organizations and their employees of the cycle of abuse and our resources, engagement in the WCA mission, and progress towards realizing our
vision of a community where individuals thrive in safe, healthy relationships.”

Civic leader, Advocate, Philanthropist, one of the Founders of the Idaho Women’s Charitable Foundation, Susan Smith has been a contributing member to the fabric of our community throughout her adult life. Susan’s quiet commitment to community-making has made a positive impact on the growth and advancement of women. Most notably, Susan and a small group of women gained the interest and commitment of thirtyfour women to establish the Idaho Women’s Charitable Foundation in 2001. This impactful membership organization, fostering educated philanthropy, now has over 400 members. Susan continues to inspire the organization as an active, founding member, and has been recognized for her contributions through the establishment of an endowment, ensuring IWCF continues its mission long into the future.
