“WORKING WITH GROUPS” Friday 7th October 2022– from 8.30am – 3.30pm (Registrations: 8.30am – 9.00am) Venue: Tauranga RSA, 1237 Cameron Road, Greerton, Tauranga Groups are a fundamental part of human experience, and are an integral part of our health, education, and social systems. Working with groups involves engaging with, and seeking to enhance interactions and relationships within a gathering of two or more other people. This experiential workshop will explore the different types of groups which are in common use – educational, psycho-educational, and therapy groups. By attending this training you will be encouraged to Build on skills you already have, whether or not you have run groups before Expand your knowledge of the usefulness and process of groups Explore the different types of groups that can be provided Take part in an experiential exploration of group processes and group facilitation Explore some of the literature on group therapy The aim of this workshop is to enhance attendee’s confidence in working in group situations, and will emphasise the tasks of being aware of your group, attending to the purpose of the group, and staying in touch with yourself throughout the process. The Presenters: David Benton has recently retired as the CEO of Hanmer Clinic. He has conducted numerous educational and training groups on all aspects of Alcohol and Drug work for GP’s, alcohol and drug workers, community support workers, workplace training, etc, and has been a tutor for the Central Institute of Technology's Coexisting Disorders Training Programme, and for the Alcohol and Drug studies Post Graduate Certificate of the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, Auckland University, and has written a Post Graduate course for the Open Polytechnic on Assessment and Treatment Planning for Coexisting Disorders. Jannine Eades is a Counsellor, Registered Nurse and Supervisor. Jannine has worked in the mental health/addiction arena for over 25yrs, in both inpatient and community settings. She has her own private practice and is a Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) within a medical centre.
