Work Capacity Medical Certificates 2022 update Below are the details regarding the changes to the Work Capacity Medical Certificates at the end of this month: 1. Restarting subsequent Work and Capacity Medical Certificates - from 31 January 2022, we’re restarting asking clients to provide a renewed medical certificate to help assess their capacity to work. 2. Medicals certificates won’t all be due at once – we will write to people when they need to renew their certificate. This will be staggered between February to August 2022. 3. Removing mandatory review periods – Practitioners will base the review period on their clinical expertise and when they think the person’s work capacity should next be reassessed. 4. No minimum or maximum restrictions on review period – the review period will be based on what the health practitioner recommends is clinically appropriate for the patient. 5. Reminding clients more often to renew their medical certificate – we will: o Write and text clients 4 weeks before their medical expiry. o Text again at 2 weeks before expiry. o Send a final text reminder 2 days before expiry.
