Updates from Te Whatu Ora COVID-19 New vaccination campaign coming Last week we mentioned that we’re adding a new layer to our immunisation promotional work, focusing on COVID-19 and flu vaccinations. The objective of this campaign is to help explain ‘why’ is vaccination important and to cut through vaccination fatigue and apathy. We want to encourage people to engage with our vaccination messaging. This will be a six week campaign, starting in August. We have received a couple of concepts from the advertising agency which are currently being tested. We’d like to walk you through the campaign next week. Please keep a look out for a meeting invitation. Digital advertising campaign promoting second boosters To help increase second booster uptake, we’re introducing a new digital advertising campaign on 26 July targeting people 50+ eligible for this dose. This will be in a Q & A format. Direct communications As mentioned previously, we’re currently running two direct communications campaigns using a combination of email, SMS and posted letters: • •
one to people eligible for a first booster (particularly Māori and Pacific people aged 50+ and other ethnicities aged 65+), who haven’t yet had one. one to those eligible for their second booster (each week, more people meet the six month gap threshold and become eligible).
Engagement is looking positive so far. We should be able to share results with you next week.
Flu New flu resources We have amended some of our flu posters and digital assets so they are more suited for display within primary care settings. Rather than saying ‘talk to your healthcare provider’ they’ve been updated to say ‘talk to us today’. You can find these in the ‘Talk to us’ folder in our Dropbox Influenza - Simplify your life.
