Acute Demand Radiology – Chest X-Ray, & other plain film imaging Key Purpose/Benefit To support general practice with management to confirm or exclude an acute condition with a timely (funded) x-ray is a component of the Acute Demand Service.
Eligibility Criteria
Reside permanently in the Western Bay of Plenty; and be a New Zealand citizen or have New Zealand residency status ACC patients are not eligible Preferable the patient is enrolled and funded through a WBOP general practice
Referral process Patients requiring an acute same day x-ray are considered urgent; in the current COVID environment a booked appointment is currently required. The patient will be contacted by Medex or Bay Radiology with an appointment time. Up to date contact mobile phone numbers on the referral are essential to arrange the same day appointment with the patient. The patient will be contacted by the radiology provider with the relevant information. An x-ray examination is undertaken within 30 minutes of the patient presenting to radiology, with a Radiologist reporting to the GP on the same day. If the report requires discussion with the GP, the Radiologist may phone the practice to discuss the findings.
